If I knew then what I know now, I would not have bought this
31 August 2014
Summary: I have used this for several months now and it is not much better than a common GPS. In spite of having input the size of my motor home at an extra long length of 60 feet, this device still has me plotted through roads too small for my RV. Although it is fine for open highways and I was able to stop it from suggesting U-Turns and dirt roads. But the display simply states "may need driver discretion" in areas where it will be impassible.
Summary: The first map upgrade was done reluctantly by the machine. The second, attempted in July, 2014 was a disaster. There was a software update available so I did that. Following the directions very carefully, I then attempted to update the map. Not only did it not update, it removed all maps and points of interest from the GPS. I am now the proud owner of a small Magellan boat anchor.
Summary: unit will not update. Magellan will not answer my questions. Don't buy! Thought it would be great for the 32' class A motorhome. Need to go elsewhere and purchase a different one since I can't return it to Amazon.
Summary: I have a love - hate relationship with this thing. On the plus side, it is perfect for us, hauling a 38 foot fifth wheel as full time RVers. I can program it for the length and height of our rig, and it avoids low overpasses. It gives me two mile warnings of which lane to be in for the next turn. The big display is easy to read, and it is easy to program. On the negative side, the map is horribly out of date.
Summary: A very good gps, simple to operate and understand. Maps need updating immediately when received, Can take up to 3 hrs to upgrade according to speed. I have satellite. If used in car it will direct around gravel roads unnecessarily , this can add several miles to trip. I am a long time user of Magellan Roadmates, they are relatively easy to learn and are very accurate if updated regularly. Received in good condition on time.
