Summary: I have used Magellan GPS units in the past and had been very pleased with them. I bought this to replace a TomTom GPS that had quit working. Initially it was great. Sometimes the cities were different than the postal address which made things complicated, but overall not too bad. Using this unit going across the country we began having difficulty on the first day. The unit would simply turn itself off. Not too much of a problem at first.
Summary: Unit was expensive enough I figured I would not have any problems....WRONG! Audio is messed up will not reset, makes a horrible scurshing noise prior to direction talk back, bluetooth is not worth using int. connects, its a shame. DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT ITS TERRIBLE!!
Summary: Purchesed in February 2011: Immediately called Magellan, maps in my area and several others in USA are messed up by as much as a mile: They promised the bad maps would be fixed in the next update cycle, the next quarter of 2011. They told me when they inform the Map supplier, they not only fix the areas identified, but update the entire county. Well now 2 years and 8 months, Magellan still have not updated the major errors in their Maps.
Summary: Bought this item even after reading about the reliability problems. I needed a large screen to use in my truck due to the distance to the windshield ( i also might be getting older)The screen is great , maps are good and the traffic alerts salved me several hours on the last trip thru Houston. HOWEVER after about three weeks it stopped getting data , unless I remove it from the mount and lay flat in on the dash for a while.
Summary: If I could have given this no stars or negative stars I would be happier. This unit is substandard in every way. They advertise it as having the ability to hook up a backup camera. They don't tell you that you must use their overpriced, underachieving backup camera ONLY. They sell their backup camera for $150, and its light rating is 5 lux(my cellphone camera is rated better).
Summary: Purchased this unit to hook up their wireless back up camera, after trying 2 gps units and 2 back up cameras and purchasing a $30 cable from radio shack to troubleshoot the unit with 15 calls to their tech support (INDIA?)I asked them if anyone else was having problems with this unit and camera which they admitted they did. Spent a lot of time exchanging units and phone calls. Their tech support is terrible, told me to have a professional check my wires.
Summary: Purchase the latest GPS that Magellan offered with the big screen and optional Wireless Rear Camera (have not purchased yet and will not do now). Returning Magellan Road Mate 9055-LM GPS navigator back to Amazon for couple of reasons. Freezing up when driving to destination had to power it off and on to get it back on track. Very difficult to acquire GPS signal when surrounded by big buildings in the city.
Don't buy it without a LONG warranty from the selling (not manufacturing) company

Summary: Magellan 9055-LM GPS review: What's great about it: Love the size, and it is pretty easy to use What's not so great: Have not had one last more than about 6 weeks I can't believe there are not more reviews of this product. WARNING: Do NOT buy this without a warranty. I appreciate other's comments (should have checked this sucker out, but didn't) and want to save others the headaches I have had.
No wonder the price keeps falling it should drop to zero

Summary: I have had this item for 2 weeks now. The 3 stars are for the fact that the back up camera so far meets all expectations. The GPS still works but it is far short of what I had expected. I was spoiled by the Garmin Nuvi products I had used before. I only bought this (Magellan) one because I wanted a combination of back up camera and navigation using one screen. Unfortunatly I could not find a Garmin product that would allow this. What is wrong with this Magellan?
