Second time around with Magellan GPS, and I'll do it again !!!!!!
10 July 2014
Summary: My car is a later model vehicle, but the Magellan Roadmate 9055 brought me up to date: Now I have great GPS which I can see better now because it's larger, the good news, the Bluetooth is out of this world, it work better then my smart phone itself, and loud and clear, and Text, and has Traffic Alert which is amazing telling me when there is 15 miles radius trouble near me in the car. Also has the capacity of 6" Backup screen. Just don't get no better then this.
Summary: I bought this for the big display. It is big. I have always been a Garmin guy but decided to give Magellan a try. Here is a list of likes and dislikes Like 1. Size of display 2. Ease of Menu use 3. Range of devices to attach to the dash/window Dislikes 1. Not like Garmin 2. GPS instruction is "slow" to my liking 3. Attachement devices are cumbersome and bulky I still have it, but prefer the Garmin.
Great sized screen. Bluetooth non-functional, backup camera works about 90%

Summary: "It does everything" [but not very well] I bought this because it was kind of the flagship product. It was theoretically to add Bluetooth and a backup camera to my car. I have had this product about two years now. Maps Lifetime maps was a big selling point for me. I previously had a Magellan but it was $99 to update maps, so why not just put that towards a newer model, right? Planned obsolescence.
Summary: I have used Magellan GPS units in the past and had been very pleased with them. I bought this to replace a TomTom GPS that had quit working. Initially it was great. Sometimes the cities were different than the postal address which made things complicated, but overall not too bad. Using this unit going across the country we began having difficulty on the first day. The unit would simply turn itself off. Not too much of a problem at first.
