Summary: I have owned 2 of these and both have just stopped working. I really like having buttons instead of a touch screen because if you use this for work like i do your hands can get really dirty and touching a screen is the last thing i want to do, at least the buttons are easier to clean.
Summary: Large compared to modern gps's but friendly and easy to use. Good satellite reception, portable and with a loud, clear sounding speaker which makes it easy to hear the directions over driving noise. Truly a find with these features at this price point! You will not be disappointed.
Summary: There should be a minus 5 star rating, a standard sine wave.. I played with this thing in the house a few days, and it seemed to be working OK.. We left on a 2week trip thru 9 states.. If I had followed the nav instructions I would have crashed into a rock wall, driven into the desert on no road, driven off a cliff, into someone's yard, and into a pond.. Good that I had my Rand McNally maps along..
Summary: I will NEVER buy another magellan. We switched to Tom Tom within a month or 2 of buying this one. The directions were always late and delayed, and usually incorrect. The maps (even when updated) we rarely accurate. It even had us paddling down a river with no hopes of getting a re-established signal once. I would NEVER recommend a magellan to ANYONE I cared about. Once we upgraded to TomTom we threw the magellan away.
Summary: This is one rugged and reliable mobile gps system.... This one is still working though slow but works properly but the harman kardon systems i bought gave up a long time ago and were not as nice as this one...
A great unit with many fine features at a reasonable price.

Summary: I had my vehicle burglerized and lost my RoadMate model 360. This model 800 was a demo unit and I had to remove the SD memory card before I could get it to function properly. I was finally able to get it to aquire 10-12 satellites and now it functions as it should. Now comes the task of adding my favorite destinations. I have stayed with Magellan units because the MFGs have carried their programming forward into newer units, so I did not have to re-learn programing.
Summary: first, i ordered 0n jan 28 and unit shipped 6 days later on feb 2!!. in this world thats pokey slo its fun to mess with wince stuff which is my reason i have a mag 1700 as well, big screen is nice
Summary: Don't waste your money with this unit. There are no updated maps available nor will there be in the future. I bought this unit for over $600.00 in 2006. One map update was released in 2007 and that's the end, according to Magellan support. They suggested I purchase a newer GPS, Ahhh, so I have to buy a new unit every couple of years for map updates. I think not.
Summary: Magellan Customer service is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. They offer a free 30 day map update since all of their products ship with out of date maps. This would be a good thing except it is in the fine print of their products and their customer support email address that their website list is the wrong address. I had to get through to their customer service by posting a bad review on their website.
Summary: I just started a new job as a Construction Project Manager and with my new job I have to travel from site to site at different locations.
When people try to give directions to their location, I just ask them to give me the physical address and I will be there and I haven't been lost yet.
