4 December 2008
  • Summary: I purchased this GPS approximately two years ago and have had to replace the 12V electrical cord and the back plane mount device already. I use the device while on vacation. Total times used while on maybe three dozen times. The external electrical connections are not very rugged.

  • Summary: This is an old unit. It's big. The operating system is slow. It will freeze every once in a while. Magellan is TERRIBLE about their map updating. Magellan has TERRIBLE offshore customer support.

  • Summary: Big, bulky, but not terrible. Unfortunately when I called the Customer Service people to say that all of the sudden, for no apparent reason it just doesn't work any longer, they said, "sorry, but there's nothing we can do.

Starting to go bad...

BobaFetch "nokia6230", Amazon
2 April 2006
  • Summary: It's an awesome tool. For the most part. I picked this over the Garmin C330 because it can tell you what City/ County you're in with one push of a button. I need that for my job. Although, the *one* advantage that I do like about the Garmin C330 is that it displays the upcoming street.

Mixed bag of Tricks.

Amazon Customer "butchieboy", Amazon
29 December 2005
  • Summary: My brand new Magellan 760 is a mixed bag of Tricks. If you consider technical support, software and hardware as a priority when purchasing this expensive item you might look at another GPS brand.

  • Summary: I bought this GPS right before my trip to Chicago and I am glad it did. Would never be able to drive in the city and the suburbs without it. It's easy to use. It has a big screen with the maps you can zoom in and move to different points to look at the map.

love / hate relationship with my Roadmate

Kai Dozier "ceistar", Amazon
9 August 2005
  • Summary: I had a Roadmate 700 for 18 months, and it became an indispensible tool for my vehicle - especially when traveling to multiple locations I've never been to in a new city. On the downside, after 11 months I started getting automatic messages that my software was out of date - but Magellan hadn't...

Satellite acquisition too long.

Always Trying, Amazon
31 July 2005
  • Summary: Been waiting to buy the new 760, and was excited when it arrived. For a real estate agent a good easy to use navigation system is a must. However, returned it today because the 760 simply takes too long to acquire a signal, sometimes longer than 5 minutes (at which point I just gave up and drove...
