Summary: Magellan Customer service is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. They offer a free 30 day map update since all of their products ship with out of date maps. This would be a good thing except it is in the fine print of their products and their customer support email address that their website list is the wrong address. I had to get through to their customer service by posting a bad review on their website.
Summary: I moved to a new city and invested in the magellan because I kept getting lost. It is horrible!!! It worked for the first 6 months and by the 7th month it wouldn't work at all. It cut off on me while I was on my way to a job fair out of all places. Customer service is worst than the product. First you have to wait forever to get someone on the line then you have to deal with someone who doesn't speak or understand english very well.
Summary: Oh my gosh... please don't buy this product. I owned one (roadmate 700) for 3 years... upgraded 3 times lastly to the 760.... then my truck was broken into and thankfully they took the GPS! They did me a favor! I purchased a Garmin Nuvi. I like it a whole lot better. The customer support at Magellan is absoutly the pits. They have phones you can't get thru on... they have an answering machine you can leave your name with and they never ever return the call ...
Summary: I purchased this for my fiancee for Christmas(2005). The unit worked fine for about a month and a half to two months, and that's when the problems began. Suddenly, the unit would not come on at all, and it smelled like something inside of it had burned up. I contacted customer service who directed me to send the unit in for repair, which I did. I was actually pleased with the turnaround time; the unit was only gone for about two and a half weeks.
Summary: MY MAGELLAN 760 EXPERIENCE I ORDERED MAGELLAN 760 ONLINE ON 4/16/06 AND I RECEIVED IT ON 4/18/06. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BRAND NEW, BUT IT WAS BAD AND NON-FUNCTIONAL WHEN I RECEIVED IT. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE TECH SUPPORT WHO PUT ME THROUGH THE TROUBLE-SHOOTING PROCEDURE AND CONCLUDED THAT THE UNIT HAS "SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION ERROR.
Summary: I have had to return it twice since Sept 05 when I bought it and it was in their RMA system for a month both times. It is March 1st 2006 right now. I now think I need to return it yet again for a third different problem. I think I got a lemon, since I have not seen other people complain about reliability. Thales has repaired it for free both times on a one year warranty, but you can't talk to a human (other than someone from India) when you call for technical support.
Summary: I purchased this unit for my wife after someone broke into her car and stoled her venerable but slow StreetPilot 3. We decided to take advantage of our loss to upgrade to a faster unit and get the state of the art in text-to-speech capability, and the Magellan 760 seemed to fit the bill. Calculation and route recalculation speeds were commendably fast, taking only a fraction of the time of our older Garmin.
Summary: This is Magellan's newest state of the art Vehicle GPS System. I paid over $1000.00 (bought it when it first came out). The GPS system works great but the mapping software is poor a best. It is not up to date and expect this unit to give allot of bad directions or directions that you waste time and money getting to your location no matter which for the 4 direction guides you use. The new POI manger is a disater, it will do everything but what you want it to do.
