Don't update the software
Kazunari Kawakami, Amazon
Summary: -After updating the software, it stopped speaking. -Content Manager is not compatible with the latest Mac OS. -When I tried to update the map, it said the software needs to be updated first, but there was no newer version of software available. -I tried to restore the default fallowing the instruction, which didn't work. -I tried to do a factory reset, which didn't work too. -Slow. It always shows me the turns where I WAS supposed to turn.
Summary: When it arrived ( great shipping Guys !! Thanks ) I downloaded the update manager software and updated the maps Etc. That was a pain! then when I decided to plug it in and use it I had to plug it in 1/2 way and wiggle the plug to get it to work as when you plug it in all the way nothing happens. Also when it works a large portion of the screen is blocked by various icons making it hard to see the map. I returned it and will buy another brand.
Summary: We bought this to compare with a more expensive Garmin 2595LMT. Magellan detects the signal much slower than Garmin, and also gives worse lane guidance and advanced warning. It does have suggested speed limit (Garmin does not), which is quite useful.
Summary: This Magellan model is great. I have had Magellan GPS units before and this unit is good as the previous models. I bought this unit, because My previous Magellan unit (Maestro 4040) the map upgrades were not available after 2010. the larger screen is better to read. I enjoy using this unit.
