Summary: I got one of these 5220-LM a little over a year ago because buying a Magellan GPS with "Lifetime Maps" was cheaper than paying to keep buying updates for my Magellan 3045. It worked pretty well when I got it. Then recently it started behaving badly. It shuts down randomly - often after less than a minute. Last week I tried to go to an address on Washington Ave in Shelbyville KY. My freshly updated 5220-LM insisted there was no such road.
Summary: Has a great search engine. The Milage Font on the upper left corner is way too small. Why make is smaller, this is something that is used constantly. The Current Destination and real time Font on the lower left corner is way too small Intersection swapping during driving is too slow and confusioning sometimes
Summary: Havent had a chance to really put it to the test,,but thus far Im pleased with its daily use. I own another Megellan,,but different model. Ive enjoyed it for a couple years,,hope Ill be as pleased with this one!
Summary: My wife gets lost very easy and when we changed vehicles, we lost the built in navigation. Found this on a great sale during the holidays and wanted to give it a try. It works well and was easy to set up and use. The only reason I am giving it a 4 star is because it takes a while to acquire the signal when you turn it on. I assume it's because I live in the woods, just takes longer than I would like.
Summary: Two problems with this unit: The Amazon description says "lifetime traffic updates." Nope, not this unit. The one I got had lifetime maps, but no traffic. (it has traffic CAMERA alerts, but that's not the same thing). Second problem: this unit lacks the single or dual T-slots all Magellan units are supposed to have on the back. That means none of the usual good-quality third-party mounting solutions will work, such as RAM-mounts or Arkon.
