"WORTHLESS TO ME - WON'T PROGRAM TO GO TO NATIONAL PARKS"
17 September 2013
Pros: LOOKS NICE
Cons: NOT ONLY CAN I NOT PROGRAM THIS TO GO TO THE NATIONAL PARKS LISTED BELOW, NEITHER CAN MAGELLAN CUSTOMER HELP - THEY JUST GAVE UP ON ME AND TOLD ME TO REPORT IT ON THEIR SITE. THEY SAID THAT MAYBE THEIR MAP SUPPLIER WILL UPDATE IT ON THE NEXT REVISION
Summary: The only thing i dont like about my gps is that it takes a minute out in the boonies to get on a road… youre out in the middle of nowhere for a couple minutes before it zeros you into a road. and sometimes the nighttime driving feature doesnt turn on. but other then that its lovely!
The Magellan RoadMate 5175T-LM is My Favorite Traveling Buddy!

Summary: The first thing I did upon receiving my Magellan RoadMate 5175T-LM GPS Navigator was charge it using its own micro USB charging cord. Instead of connecting it to my PC, I connected it to my Philips SPS6038A/17 Home Charging Station ( Philips SPS6038A/17 Home Charging Station ). It takes approximately four hours for initial charging. Next, I easily downloaded the free Content Manager and registered my Magellan GPS.
Summary: I read every review on just about every site about this product before I bought it. This is a great unit. WIFI is simple to set up not hard! The touch screen is just fine. The screen is awesome 100% VGA not 1/4. It's fast accurate and love the live traffic and how it works to re route you. It shows how much time you would save if you used the alt route. The browser display is not Hi Res but you can search the internet for a location and tap to go there.
Summary: This was my third Magellan. By far I felt ripped off by a subpar product. Not only cant it find my house it can't find its way accross the street. I was so angry over a bad purchase I made. I put it in the garbage.
Summary: This item was a complete waste of money!! It takes to long to power up, acquire a signal (even with a direct line of sight!) and the touchscreen has some latency issues. I normally get tired of waiting and use the mapquest app I have on my Iphone. (It comes up in a matter of seconds) I have yet to figure out how to get the lifetime map updates. I'm pretty tech saavy and this one has me stumped. If you need a GPS at a comparable price go with the tomtom brand.
Summary: I got this as a Christmas gift (ordered from Amazon) and have yet to get the hang of it. It's not the first GPS I've owned, but definitely the worst. 1. The battery life is virtually non-existent. And once charged it decharges within days when not used. 2. It didn't come with a AC adapter charger and there was no info with the unit or on line as to the specs, so had to guess. 3. The touch screen is not sensitive.
Summary: This GPS unit does its job for the most part, and it seems to be user friendly. My only complaints are that sometimes it can be unresponsive (i.e. not show that your turn is coming up until you've already passed it) and the information in it's TourGuide feature is somewhat outdated- I've tried to find multiple restaraunts/attractions with it, only to find out the establishment has been closed.
Summary: I purchased this road mate in August but did not have the need to use it until recently. As I have used other Magellan road mates and have had no problems with them I trusted this device to function the same. Boy was I mistaken!!! If you go to the points of interest it freezes up and then returns to start-up screen. If you do not know the address and need the points of interest forget it because you will not get it.
