Great inexpensive GPS that works as described

pparker48, Ebay
23 August 2014
  • Summary: What I liked about this GPS 1. It's Easy to use no frills GPS 2. It has limited features instead of many useless features. 3. It works as a Car GPS with talking and good visual directions to get you to your destination. 4. It doesn't crash (so far) 5. All the functions work as described What I didn't like 1. No home charger included only optional 2.

returned it back to BB

shaftngears, Amazon
7 January 2014
  • Summary: got it for urgent travel need. The GPS receiver sensitivity is ok - not spectacular but passable. What makes this a sure shot thumbs down is the badly programmed GPS software and I guess this maybe a problem w/ ALL similar generation Magellan GPS So I was traveling across the breath of NM / AZ and knew the straight route as 40E all the way.

Battery not guaranteed.

T. R. Robbins "Fister Mixit", Amazon
4 December 2013
  • Summary: The GPS is fine and works well. It's the company that refurbished it that frustrated me. Why fix something and send it out with a bad battery. Be advised! The battery is not covered in the warranty.

Good, generally reliable, adn very useful device.

James E. Upton, Amazon
23 November 2013
  • Summary: Found it to be a reliable guide almost wherever I've tried to use it. The speaker's diction is hard to figure out when (I think) she says "maining on ... street or ...", she means "remaining on ..." I would have expected that updates would have corrected that lack of clarity —and maybe some other diction things.

Refurbished 5145T-LM Worked Fine on our 10-Day Road Trip

Morethanimages "jckinswo", Amazon
5 September 2013
  • Summary: I purchased a factory refurbished 5145T-LM unit from TigerDirect during a 1-day sale back in July for use on a 10-day road trip with my two kids. The price was low enough (sub-$70) that I thought I'd take a chance. It seems to be a roll-of-the-dice situation with most of these cheaper units and I've always had good luck with refurbished. I didn't take the time to update the maps (still haven't gotten around to it) but for our trip, it didn't seem to make a difference.

Very good GPS, maybe defective hardware?

Keith Allsop "TheOracle", Amazon
6 August 2013
  • Summary: When first purchased, had a lot of issues trying to connect to a PC to check for map updates. I thought the GPS was defective, got an RMA #, and then it suddenly worked and I was able to load the newest maps. Installed it in our car, and used it over the next 6 months. It's a very good GPS. The traffic feature has worked well and saved us time. The maps have been accurate and navigation has been spot on. Everything going great, until last week.

Worst customer service I've encountered in a LONG time

rob, Amazon
6 July 2013
  • Summary: I'm sorry for the lengthy review. I don't believe in rambling but it's kind of a long story. First, the unit itself works.... alright. Not great but reasonably well. My google maps on my smart phone actually is more accurate. But I would NEVER again purchase a Magellan product. It is the most clueless company I may have ever dealt with. I purchased this product specifically because it was capable of downloading European maps. We were planning a trip to Scotland.
