A REASONABLE PRICE RECEIVER WITH FREE TRAFFIC/MAP UPDATE !
Summary: I have owned dozen of different brands of the GPS devices over a few years such as Tom tom,Garmin nuvi and Magellan gps receiver.Firstable,I love the life-time map&traffic easy update of the Magellan 5120-LMTX . No matter you're purchasing a brand new device,a refurbished device or used.
Summary: I have had to purchase 4 GPS units. I like the idea of multi-point routing, but this is not my favorite unit. I bought batteries, had to update firmware on all units, and still they work, but not great. I have not found a better unit, but I am not switching to single destination GPS units. I will have to try a truck/RV GPS with routing to see if they are any better. Normal issues: Directions to turn, after you pass or are too close to take action.
Unreliable, Difficult to Use, Impossible to Update
2 April 2014
Summary: Last time I used it crashed, and when rebooted had lost all of my address book information. Luckily I was on my way home and remembered *that* address. I recently tried to update the device, and despite the fact I can mount the unit to my desktop with the USB cable, the website tells me that this model needs to be updated with an SD card (which I don't have) from a computer with an SD card reader (which I don't have).
Summary: Is there a rating lower than 1 star? In 16 months I used it 3 times. Twice it worked, third time it locked up; screen stuck with computer icon usb connect to gps icon. Gps problem occurred a few days after doing a 'Lifetime Map' update which initially appeared okay. After 3 calls to Magellan support, the answer was it had to be replaced at my expense. Excels at nothing.
Great display, accurate directions, lifetime maps, awesome price!

Summary: It was going to cost as much as new GPS to update the maps in my Garmin so I bought this due to the lifetime maps and I'm really happy I did. The display is larger and very sharp. It is so much easier to see road names on adjacent and upcoming roads. Just for fun we put the same destination on the two units and were surprised when the Garmin said we had arrived but the destination was about 1/4 mile down the road.
Summary: I had a Magellan Maestro 4250 about 4-5 years ago, I am still using it now, I have been very very satisfied with it. The only problem is the map stored map was out of date, that is why I want to buy a new Magellan. I bought a Magellan Road Mate 5120, I was very disappointed to bought this, it is not as good as the Magellan Maestro 4250, there is not trip planner option in the 5120, and I try to go online to check for map up-date, but there is no model for 5120 to update.
