Summary: I'm not thrilled with this GPS, but there are some nice points. PROS: 1) Large screen. Once you go big, you'll never want a little one again 2) loud and easy to read 3) maps and traffic updates. lifetime maps is a huge bonus. 4) quickly navigates out of wrong turns to get my where I need to go.
Summary: I replaced my Garmin Nuvi 765T because the power cradle kept failing, after the third replacement, I gave up. Please note that the 765T was not the point of failure. The Magellan Roadmate 5045-LM had a larger screen, increased lexicon (pronounced all road/street names), and LT map and traffic.
Summary: We've had to return ours TWICE (in less than six months) for repair or replacement. The second time it failed was after we were 200 miles into a 1000-mile trip heading out West. Plus, the software interface is, often, not very intuitive.
good mapping device for the price; sparse features

Summary: Pros: - free lifetime map updates - free traffic routing information - more routing methods than our Garmin devices (fastest, shortest, most freeway, least freeway) - great window mount Cons: - address mapping is limited compared to Garmin - lack of features Let me preface that our family is a huge...
Summary: If you have been a longtime Magellan user you may want to consider a few things before getting on the Garmin bandwagon. I want to make it very clear that this isn't going to be a review to bash the Garmin 1450LMT, the particular unit I bought and returned, but more of comparison.
Summary: Initially took 20 minutes remove the glue left on the screen from the fake screen display showing a typical screen display. Allowed unit to charge while carefully cleaning the screen. A beautiful display appeared..I entered my home address ..then a fiends address ..

Summary: OR PICK YOUR FEATURES AND BUDGET AND THEN DECIDE UPDATED March 2013 I was using this new Magellan every day for four weeks back in 2010 when I first got it and then sporadically for several years because I needed it less frequently EXCEPT to get around heavy traffic.
Summary: Initially, I was pleased with my 5045 LM. Little quirks here and there that differed from my Garmins and from the GPS on my Android phone. Biggest thing at first was its unreliability in displaying traffic notices.

Summary: I've used garmin for the past 6-7 years and when i lost mine, I replaced it with this. To be honest, i was attracted about the fact that this magellan decvice is bigger (5 inch screen) and supported/ endorsed by AAA services. let me start with cons: CONS: 1.
