Summary: So far for me it has been great, the 5" display is a plus specially when your vision at night is not that great. the Lifetime Map is a great feature. The satelite signal in my area was very fast, the controls in the menu area simple and the traffic information is divine. The price was reasonable.
Magellan RoadMate 5045-LM 5-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Maps and Traffic

Summary: I was very disappointed with the Magellan RoadMate 5045-LM GPS unit. It took at least 5-10 minutes each time to program an address due to sluggishness. When I try to program in a street name with double letters (i.e., ee) in the spelling of a streeet, the unit does not allow me to do that. It starts to hang up. I have to cut the unit off and go back and start over again and it still gives me the same problem every time by hanging up, plus the touch screen always sticks.
Summary: I have used this in eastern and western Europe as well as parts of the U.S. and have found it to be a good, reliable product. The few glitches that have happened were minor and usually seem to be the fault of the programmers rather than the unit. Although I have not yet used it in pedestrian mode, I have noticed that, as others have mentioned, the battery life seems to be quite short. But if you're just using it the car with the power cord, it should work as advertised.
Summary: I have a built in navi in my car, but needed a portable for when I travel and rent cars. This is best I've had. I don't need blue tooth. It is loud enough to hear clearly. A Garmin I once had was barely audible while driving in traffic. Announcing the street name, in addition to saying, "turn left in 500 feet", is a great feature that my built in system, and several models of portables, don't have. It looks good and is easy to use.
Summary: I bought this GPS because I was tired of getting lost when I would travel to new places or go out of state. It's not a horrible product but it doesn't give the option to avoid the tolls and doesn't even tell you if the route you are taking has them or not. I had one experience where it made me go through an unnecessary toll when traveling to WI ($1.50) and it's frozen on me several times while in use.
Summary: Love it! Easy to use, lane assist is awesome! Received it as a gift and tested it out from home and it is 10 times better than my Garmin App on my I phone. I would love to keep this unit but my 39.99 Garmin App and $1000 double din headunit would become a huge waste. I would suggest to anyone that if you are looking for a solid GPS go for the Magellan before any of the other pretenders.
Summary: I have owned 2 other GPS from Magellan. This one is by far the best. There is a learning curb...short but free. I got this morning and drove over 250 miles stopping at 15 different addresses in different cities. It performed really well. There was a traffic alert the gps alerted me to, which I thought was bogus. It was real. Im in Northern Ca and thought the traffic alerts did not work up here....but they do.
Summary: Nice features. On first trip froze and rebooted during normal driving. Slow route recalculation. Froze in POI function. Sent two emails to Magellan support with no response. Returned unit. Would not waste your money on this unit.
