Summary: I should have listened to other reviewers because mine did the same thing. Not sure if this is inherent with this particular model or just this batch of remanufactured GPS's. I got mine, plugged it in to charge the batteries, they were dead which is unusual I thought. Most of the time when you get a product it will have some charge in the batteries. So I charged this for at least 8 hours.
Summary: this is a great unit for it's age.. works as advertised. i have not been able to updated the maps yet still trying to link the unit with the magellan web site. the unit size is just right for my truck highly recommand as a alt.
The magellan gps has set us free and saves us lots of time and frustration.

Summary: We received our first gps years ago as a present. We travel a lot and could not believe how this simple device changed our life. We could now navigate any city with easy. We have been using our gps a lot since then both locally and out of town. It was a Magellan and although we are not techogeeks were able to use the device. recently we dropped it and thought it was dead. So we ordered a new magellan it was an easy transition and looked and worked very well.
Summary: Why I gave it a five star rating is because I bought it for my husband and he loved it. We have the lifetime updates which is so nice. The navigation features are so easy to use. You can save places you have been to. We traveled in a fifth wheel and we never had a problem with finding our way with it. Restaurants, gas stations and tourist spots all are so accessible.
Summary: I needed a second GPS for the other vehicle. The new GPS was a refurbished unit available from Walmart and cost and lifetime maps were the principal reasons for purchasing this unit. My other unit was a TOMTOM XL IQ Routes (4+ years old). It's been a good GPS that met my needs however my main complaint is that it did not have lifetime maps and an updated map is not worth the price. The new GPS needed over 3 hrs to download all the updates.
Summary: Walmart delivered the GPS faster than expected, but that's where the good news ends. The refurbed unit did not work at all and I was forced to contact Magellan Technical support to get an RA number to return the unit. I called a total of 4 times, waited on hold for more than 30 minutes the first three times before hanging up. The 4th time I made it to a rep in 37 minutes. By 58 minutes I had a RA number and they were shipping me a replacement unit.
Summary: I fully charged the unit, registered it, and updated the maps and software via Magellan The first outing, the GPS took over 14 miles for it to acquire a signal (even with clear skies) . Even then the GPS had me travelling off road , and way back from my actual position, then it lost signal. All very difficult to talk around when your wife is sitting next to you asking whats going on! Yes, I set the GPS position and I did the hard reset before you ask.
Summary: Recently I traveled through the Balkans and before the trip I wanted a reliable GPS...After reviewing several systems, this one seemed the best suited for what I was looking for...No issues on the first leg of my trip...very accurate and easy to use.
Summary: Functionality - it does what is says it can do. 1. Traffic Updates - accurate and timely. 2. Map lifetime updates - you get 4 updates a year for life which is good 3. Tourbook - did not use it thoroughly ... due to the #1 issue (see below) 4. Graphics - OK - not earth shattering, not cutting edge 5. Lane guidance - OK - not cutting edge 6. Speed limit warning - Good and accurate My issues with the product: 1. Responsiveness - the interface is a tad slow.
