Very inaccurate and confusing

P. Martin "PMar", Amazon
8 January 2011
  • Summary: I've had a Tom Tom and bought this for a second vehicle. When first trying to update maps and traffic, it was frustrating because you have to search for info. There is no software that is installed. It is not user-friendly and would never suggest it for beginners.

Magellan 5045

allianzman, Ebay
6 January 2011
  • Summary: This is my 3rd Magellan. The main negative is trip routing is not adequately explained. I had to call the customer service # to get help. The other negative is the freeway exit screen is not as good as the Garmin. Its also not as accurate as my previous model as it off by a few hundred feet.

Terrible Routing

22 December 2010
  • Summary: So previously I had a Magellan Maestro and wanted to get a new Magellan with lifetime maps and traffic reports. My previous Maestro was great and rarely had any problems with it. This new unit has terrible routing.

Used to be better

Amazon Customer, Amazon
15 December 2010
  • Summary: Magellan used to be better. I had 4 different models and let me tell you: They were way better. I guess Magellan, like other companies, are using cheaper parts to built the unit missing that actually it won't pay off. You can't neglet quality if you want to be competitive.

Aweful Device - go with a Garmin

redcfool, Amazon
15 December 2010
  • Summary: Magellan has failed miserably with this device. My old gps was Magellan. After 4 or 5 years it started to get flakey so I decided to get another Magellan. What a mistake. My old device knew exactly where my house was. It always said 'You have arrived' when I pulled into my driveway.

Already broken

SantaTim, Amazon
10 December 2010
  • Summary: Ordered for my wife because of the AAA feature. She had a Garvin Nuvi 265T and it was very reliable. We received this unit 12/3 and yesterday the unit was stuck on our home location, never moved and night mode.

Not Dead-Drunk...Just Drunk

Marvin Cohn "drdos43", Amazon
7 December 2010
  • Summary: Update 12/28/2010 I do not understand the low ratings that some reviewers have given this GPS. Zelda has always given us good directions no matter in what part of the U.S. we have been; and her response time for typed in addresses is only a few seconds .

If i relied on this GPS, I'd be lost

Amazon Customer, Amazon
2 December 2010
  • Summary: If you like having a drunk woman giving inaccurate and misleading directions to the wrong destination, this GPS is for you! This is my first non-hiking GPS and, as you probably have guessed by now, I am less than impressed.

5045-LM Obsolete Maps: Changed to Tele-Atlas from NAVTEQ

Mark H Nittler, Amazon
2 December 2010
  • Summary: I purchased the Magellan Roadmate 5045-LM to replace a Magellan Roadmate 760 and a Magellan Maestro 3250 which have served me well. The new Tele-Atlas maps on the new 5045 were 15-20 years behind on road and street names in my area down in South Texas.
