Summary: After getting a flyer from AAA about the Magellan Roadmate 3055 I searched the internet and found that I could purchase the same unit (with all the AAA features) online at Amazon at a considerably lower price.
Summary: I had the Magellan Maestro 3100 for over 4 years never had a problem with it just could not get a current update for it. So I wanted a new one I wanted one with blue tooth so when I was driving I would not have to search for my phone.
Summary: I had a Garmin before with traffic updates and it was useless. It would spit out traffic updates that are inaccurate and has nothing to do with what was going on in the real world. If you buy a GPS for traffic updates , don't even bother.
Summary: As far as I'm concerned, none of the GPS units are fantastic. They all have their shortfalls. However, I've been using this unit for about a month and I'd say it's pretty good - better than it's main competitor. We had 2 Garmin 765wt units and we've learned to hate them miserably.
Summary: I never thought I'd buy a GPS for my car. But when offered one for working in my company for 30 years, I picked it over the clock, coffee pot or no-name TV. Having never used one before, it worked right out of the box and seems to find what I want.
Summary: This GPS might not have all the bells and whistles that some have these days, but it certainly has all that I desire. As a test, I recently took both this GPS and my Garmin nuvi 255W on a 1200 mile trip, up through NYC, the length of Long Island, and up to New England.
Summary: I have owned many GPS units... Garmin, TomTom, Navigon. While there is no perfect GPS that I have come across, this one has many great features...and some issues. The unit takes a while to start up. And even though the GPS indicator shows a strong signal, the unit is still "acquiring a signal.
Summary: Compared to my Nuvi 255W, there are good points and bad. I love one of the choices the for "Route Method" is "Mostly Freeways", I wish my Nuvi had that. Screen: Both are nice Magellan is bigger and bigger is better right?
Summary: I purchased this GPS a few months ago from Amazon after spending quite a bit of time looking at units from Magellan, Tom Tom, Garmin and Motorola. I like gadgets, but am generally not an "early adapter.
