Summary: I bought this one 3 months ago. Bluetooth can't work now. And I used it less than 10 times. There are two times that can't work. The travel range is less than 50 miles. It is worse than TomTom eventhogh many person think tomtom also has quality problems. I need to buy another one. So don't waster your money.
Summary: I purchased the Magellan RoadMate 3055 several months ago and loved it until I found myself visiting in an unknown city and it failed to come on no matter what I did. Checked the connection to make sure it was ok, tried turning it on manually even tried resetting it, but nothing. I had no GPS. I was ready to go purchase another one thinking that this device was down for the count.

Summary: I just wanted to buy a Magellan 3055 and thought I would ask to verify the Voice recognition they claim in their advertizing on here. Found out it doesn't have that feature. FALSE ADVERTISING. Would you please look into this for me (Folks @ Amazon)??? Here below are the emails from me to them, and a ping pong display of no or little information. Pretty pathetic reponses. Hi, Thank you for contacting Magellan Technical Support.
Summary: When the sound broke on my Magellan Maestro 3100 GPS, I purchased the Roadmate 3055-MU. It came with all of these additional features - multipoint destinations, traffic alerts, bluetooth and AAA tourbook. I'd give them all up to have my Maestro GPS working again. This GPS is garbage. While it usually will get you where you need to go, the routing and time estimates were much better on my Maestro 3100. Also, the time estimates on this Roadmate are extremely optimistic ...
Summary: Great design and architecture, but the product just doesn't work reliably. Love the one-touch control where with just a touch or two you can navigate to any preselected favorite place--a real time saver. There were some other great features, too, although the bluetooth was a bit sketchy both in terms of sound quality and ease of use. The main problem is that sometimes the unit just won't turn on. One day it works great and the next, just a black screen.
Summary: The screen on the first unit I bought froze on me the first day. I could not free it up, but, found the voice still navigated me thru. Had to turn unit off to kill the voice. Also it paired with my cell OK, but, it would not download my contacts. It said it was downloading, but, non were. Also, I could hear fine on the bluetooth, but, the other end was garbled. Took it back and exchanged it for another unit.
Summary: So I just spent 2 hours of my life with Magellan Tech support trying to import my contacts from my phone to the GPS only to learn that there is a compatibilty issue with some phones with the model 3055 and they are working on a software upgrade. My phone is a pretty popular one in the area I live so its not like I have an obscure type of phone.
Summary: I bought this unit as a replacement. It is slow to navigate. The bluetooth does not work with any cellphone I have tried it with. Magellan used to be the best there was available. Not this time. I just finished dealing with customer service, I am getting a Maestro 4700 in itl's place. I have two other 4700's & they both work just fine. I do not recommend the Roadmate 3055. Also, if you go to their customer service for assistance, don't deal with the off-shore rep.
Summary: The Magellan GPS worked for one day. After turning it on the second day the display froze. Turning the power off and on did not solve the problem. They are shipping units without updating software. I returned the GPS as I do not trust their quality control.
