Summary: I wish I had traveled more when I first got this device, then I would have realized how lame this model is and returned it. I can't even begin to express the utter frustration this GPS has caused for me. This device demands that I go through the busiest city routes, when I know there are much better alternatives. It also has an inability to correct itself once I push further to the route I KNOW is quicker.
Summary: I chose this model because of brand recognition and because it has lifetime maps. I had only used it twice, on a trip and to a local destination unfamiliar, I don't use it for most of my local trips. A little over a year later, I got it out to use on a trip. I turned it on and no problems. I plugged it into my pc to update the maps and the update failed. I retried to update and it says it is up to date. Now it won't get past the title screen as if it is trying to start.
Summary: Works as it should, Unsure if it works any better than cheaper or more expensive units. I find programing much easier with typewriter keyboard lay out, as opposed to ABCDEFGHI... keyboard on the unit this one replaced..
Summary: I've been a Magellan user for several years - I have owned two of their GPS systems, and always appreciate how they have improved their products. This unit is my 3th, and replaces a old Magellan. After using it for a while I've confident in saying this is the best one yet!
Summary: I haven't had very good luck with Garmin's, I've had 2 break on me already. The one I currently have I can't update the maps even though I have Lifetime maps so .... I'm going back to a Magellan. I bought a Magellan Maestro 8 years ago, it's been dropped and pretty much gone through pretty much everything and it's still working. The 3030LM pretty much has all the features for my needs, hasn't gotten me lost yet.
Summary: The Magellan RoadMate is simple to use and easy to set. I love the fact that the voice t rerassures you that you are still on the right road when you are on the same road for a long time "Remain on the current road" It got us to Hunter Mountain in areas where there were no road signs. We would still be looking if "Mr Magellan" had not guiuided us t the right address..
