Life time map updates, live traffic and bluetooth but route planning: meh.
11 October 2014
Summary: I bought this to replace the 2136T-LM Magellan RoadMate I'd used for several years. I like the simple display and the traffic indicator--very useful. The two models are very similar but with some noticeable differences. The display is the same, having a traffic indicator, volume control and a short cut to display points of interests for upcoming highway exits. The menus look identical and use the same process for creating a route.
Summary: After an hour of use, the screen froze and we were unable to reset it ever again. So I can't comment on the correctness of maps, since it doesn't work. Trying to send it back now since it's not even worth fixing. Even while it "worked" it didn't quite work for the phone features. It only recognized our iPhone but not the Samsung that was bluetooth enabled but not a smartphone. Also, the phone had to be within 18" or so of the GPS in order to be recognized.
Summary: I am the perfect target GPS user. Zero sense of direction and I'm always moving to new cities (military). Maggie, my first Magellan, was wonderful and sweet and got outdated enough to make looking for an upgrade a good idea. I did my research and chose the Roadmate 2055 - though other brands seemed to have more well-rated options, I stuck with Maggie.
Summary: I had a Magellan RoadMate before and a family member needed it more than I did at the time, so 1 person was thrilled and one was forever reaching for the dash.... I saw it on Amazon and now there are 2 happy people, especially me! great product, well priced, and some new features! I continue to be amazed at how often I turn to Amazon these days for pretty much everything I need, knowing I'm going to receive a great price and service!
