Summary: I purchased a refurbished Magellan RoadMate gps which worked great for about a week. One night the unit just froze so I returned it to replace it with another Magellan - same model. The second one was defected right out of the box. It never worked.
Product overall is poor, "customer service" even worse

Summary: In full disclosure, I have had Garmin products for many years and been happy with them. I have used them in boats, planes and cars. My Garmin units for cars are aging and one of the three died. I replaced it with this Roadmate 2035 due to the great deal it seemed. I was initially very happy with it.
Summary: Got mine as a promotion with COntinental tires for my BMer. Faced same problem as you did, also it used to freeze, Was really pissed off once cause I bought $ 800 worth of tickets for a show and this damn thing froze and I missed 20 minutes of the show out of a total of 1 and half hour.
Summary: I bought this one brand new over a year ago (14 months ago), but last week the unit could not receive any satellite signal. I still can enter the address, but the gps won't provide any driving directions or updating the map screen. I expected it can last for a few years, but it didn't.
Summary: I bought this unit mostly because of the name, thinking that Magellan was a reputable company. This unit is horrible; every time I've used it, it has taken me extremely out of the way, wasting my time, gas, and money. It is very hard to navigate, and to see the route the unit wants you to follow.
Summary: Got it home tried to use it around my town (ging to local store ect) Darn thing wanted to take in in the craziest ways. Would not even recaulate and get it right when I was sitting in the store's parking lot. It was dead set on me going all the way back to the orginal way it wanted me to go.
Summary: The poor quality was evident in the cheap appearance right out of the box, ie light weight and very plastic feel. The unit locked up the first time I tried to use it and I couldn't get it unlocked.
Summary: Not sure why this GPS device is getting so much love in its reviews. My experience with this device has been far from spectacular. NAVIGATION For its core functionality, the device gets you from point A to point B and does a decent job estimating/recalculating the expected arrival time.
Summary: UPDATE: I don't often use a GPS, but over the weekend I had call to use my Magellan for a rather long trip and noticed that the time was off. No matter how I attempted to reset the time, the unit insisted that it was the middle of the night.
