Summary: I purchased a refurbished Magellan RoadMate gps which worked great for about a week. One night the unit just froze so I returned it to replace it with another Magellan - same model. The second one was defected right out of the box. It never worked. You would think they would take extra care to make sure the product works, especially if it is the second time. They never returned any of my phone calls. I would never buy anything else from this company again.
Product overall is poor, "customer service" even worse

Summary: In full disclosure, I have had Garmin products for many years and been happy with them. I have used them in boats, planes and cars. My Garmin units for cars are aging and one of the three died. I replaced it with this Roadmate 2035 due to the great deal it seemed. I was initially very happy with it. The interface was very intuitive and user friendly and I was even thinking about upgrading some of my older Garmin units (some with very old maps).
Summary: Got mine as a promotion with COntinental tires for my BMer. Faced same problem as you did, also it used to freeze, Was really pissed off once cause I bought $ 800 worth of tickets for a show and this damn thing froze and I missed 20 minutes of the show out of a total of 1 and half hour. Was furious so called Magellan to yell at them but lady was kind and she told to reset and it worked fine, but had to reset couple of time.
Summary: This is the worst product ever...purchased it Feb. and within weeks it stopped working, we put in the destination and we would get a message saying route error, even on routes that were previously installed in the GPS and used before...we returned it and got another one and within weeks the same thing happened again. Now we can only get a partial refund for this jacked up product..
Summary: Started out that I really liked this one, better than my TomTom or Garmin that I had previously. Fist negative is the one touch feature. One reason I liked this unit. HOWEVER, and confirmed by tech support, checking the box on an address that says add to one touch, DOES NOT WORK. You must start from scratch on the one touch screen and add the address line by line. Now the really bad. The unit got slower and slower.
Summary: My old Magellan Maestro 4250's routing engine was starting to fail. My destination would be one block ahead on the right, and the GPS would have me turn left, turn right, go 2 blocks, make two more rights and a U turn to reach my destination. So, I figured it was old and starting to fail so I "upgraded" to the RoadMate 2045. It's routing engine does the exact same thing. So, at this point, I'm pretty sure it's a problem with Magellans in general.
Summary: I didn't buy the unit from Amazon. I received it free as a promotion for buying a set of 4 Continental tires. One of our cars doesn't have a GPS, so I put it in that car. It seemed to be an okay unit. However, after about 30 days, it no longer functions correctly. It can't pick up a satellite signal and is now useless. I am glad I didn't purchase the device.
Summary: I bought this one brand new over a year ago (14 months ago), but last week the unit could not receive any satellite signal. I still can enter the address, but the gps won't provide any driving directions or updating the map screen. I expected it can last for a few years, but it didn't.
Summary: This device worked for the first week I had it, but broke shortly thereafter. Everytime I would press the touchscreen it makes this obnoxious hissing sound. Live and learn to not buy certain products on ebay.
