Summary: I purchased this unit along with the $100 option for updates for life. The first several updates went without a problem, but the latest attempt resulted in the unit locking up due to a software error. There is no way to reset this model (even though the on/off switch has a reset position). Customer service was responsive and offered me a replacement unit because it was still in the 1 year warrantee period.
Summary: This review is from: Magellan RoadMate 1475T 4.7-Inch Portable GPS Navigator (Electronics) Unlike other reviewers who have predisposition to certain brand, e.g., someone who used a Garmin for long time and now came to criticize the Magellan, I am a long-time user of GPS of both Magellan and Garmin since 1998. My first Garmin cost me about $1500 and my first Magellan cost me about $2000. My later Garmin and Magellan cost me $800, $500, $300, etc.
Summary: Works as indicated. Very happy with the purchase. The birds eye view of the road ahead is very helpful and the spoken directions are easy to follow. It is quick to update and picks up the GPS signal fairly quickly. Overall good product for the lost cost.
Magellan Road Mate 1475T Good value for the money!!.

Summary: Great for the money, you can get around the akward car charger by simply looping it over the holder then inserting power cord, no fear of falling out nor obstructing your view. Overall a nice cheap unit that I was lucky enough to get 2012 OS/Map updates for (Free) on a referb 4.7 inch screen uint at that, from Magllan's web-site!!!.
Summary: When finding a GPS for my father-in-law, we had to find one that was easy to use. From what I read online, this one would work. As soon as we got it, we were surprised by all of the features in this unit. It works great for what my father-in-law needs. He probably won't use the traffic option much, but at least it's there and free of charge for him. Not a bad deal at all! This item charges up fast and works great.
Pros: The traffic updates are great, needs better GUI to see more detailed info about route incidents. Great on POI's and searching, Magellan and AAA. Able to search wildcard style.
Cons: Ads are pain, but worth it for traffic. Lacks detailed info on incidents. No battery level. Calibration, rather have it lead then lag. Does not save & return to route if powered off. No trip counter. No scale legend. MPH should always be displayed.
Summary: I LOVE IT. I CAN'T BELIEVE I CAN ACTUALLY DRIVE TO A DESTINATION WITHOUT GETTING SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOST. WHY DIDN'T I BUY THIS WHEN THEY FIRST HIT THE MARKET, BUT AT LEAST I HAVE ONE NOW. THANK YOU FOR THE FAST DELLIVERY TOO.
Summary: I bought this model to replace an older Magellan Maestro 4250. I have used Garmin and Tom Tom but like Magellan the best. I only replaced the 4250 because the map update was old and it was more feasible to purchase a new model. Regarding the 1475T, first I'll note the positives - I received the newest 2011 map update free.
