Summary: bought it on sale for 89 mainly for the large screen display. features are real basic and for the money i could have done much better with garmin. skip it, look for a barmin nuvi.
Pros: good signal aquisition. large screen
Cons: mount is horrible, keeps dangling down. no posted spid limits or car speed like garmoin nuvi turn on/off sporadicaslly,.. crazy,... can not customize the icons. compared to my garmin nuvi 255 , i wish i stuck to garmin.
Summary: I was greatly anticipating the receipt of my Magellan model 1470. I have had Magellan GPS products before and have always found them to be both reliable and trustworthy. I installed the new GPS and found it easy to put in the addresses and routes we wanted to use.
Summary: Let me start with "I love Magellan products". Well, I used to. This is my 3rd Magellan GPS model (after old 800 and 4250). Previous models worked flawlessly. But this unit.... I bought my 1470 on Amazon 06/11/2009.
Summary: After owning Garmins, I find that having a speed limit indicator is a very worthwhile feature when traveling out of town. It allows you to know the limit, wherever you are, without having to keep an eye peeled for signs on already unfamiliar roads.
Summary: I have tried some Garmin GPS such as 255W, 885W, 265W and this Mag 1470. I prefer Mag 1470 over Garmin because it had best map layout, large screen, POI... However, it is currently on it's way back to amazon.
