The RoadMate 1470 is quite possibly Magellan's finest GPS to date. The bright, 4.7-inch display is larger than most other widescreen GPS devices, and the additional screen space does improve the ease of use and overall navigation experience. The new, slim design is elegant looking. A sensitive touchscreen and fast internal processor makes the RoadMate respond instantly to your every touch. Good unit. Lots of options in routing and POIs. Good for long trips but a little slow calculating the trips. One flaw of this and most GPSs I've used is the insane way in which they route. For instance, from Austin to Biloxi gives me only three choices--the same route is used for "Fastest" and "Shortest." It doesn't take into account that this route has several small towns with 30 mph speed limits whereas a couple of other routes have faster highway speeds. When I try to... Read more

Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this? ) I originally ordered a Garmin and sent it back for the 1470 since the Garmin froze up on my Wife and it could not find a satellite when the unit rested on my lap while traveling down a main road in Pittsburgh. Now, I wont bore you with my trip to Grandmaws house. The bottom line is the 1470 GPS worked well until I updated the maps. Two days after the 2.20 map update the unit froze and finally lockedup on the Magellan startup... Read more or see product

" Bought 1470 with great expectations. Was very disappointed. While driving, the vehicle shown lags behind anywhere from 100 - 500 feet. The faster you go the worst it gets. Addresses one city block off. Home address feature changes the address from the last "goto" entered for unknown reasons. Upon adding addresses, selecting find causes the unit to want to restart, and will not work. Current firmware(1-11-2010) defective, causes unit to lock up and quit working.... Read more
