Summary: Was given this GPS as a gift. First unit would not charge and would not stay on even when plugged in. After way too much time spent on the phone over several days with tech support and customer service was finally told I could exchange unit for a "refurbished" one.
Summary: The unit itself seems to function ok. No huge issues with the piece itself. Stays charged pretty decently, ( warns when not powered up enough..) all the features work and are easy to use. It includes phone numbers to call your destination if it is a business..
Summary: Not going into too many technicalities, I had a similar product and needed another one to gift someone. PROS: Decent screen size, easy functionality, decent battery life CONS: Sometimes its slightly slow to respond to turns (i.e.
Summary: I purchased this GPS because my daughter in law bought it and it workes fine for what we need. I didnt need anything fancy, just something to get me to places I had never been before. Directions are concise and it is easy to use.
Summary: i have an old magellan that no longer has any sound, but otherwise still works great , and a garmin that i can't stand. the new roadmate 1424 works perfectly, finds satellites very quickly as well as finds cities and street names with incredible speed.

Summary: I love Magellan GPS navigator items. This model is a replacement model that I had to buy which was a little lower level of my previous one that I had gotten as a gift several years ago, but it still works great for me.
Summary: First, I owned a Magellan Maestro 3100, basic earlier generation unit. I much preferred the usability of the interface to the Garmin & Tom Tom equivalents. The Roadmate 1424 improves and addresses virtually all my annoyances with the older series.
Summary: I have used two different Garmin nuvi GPS units over the past 4 years, and have always found them to be easy to use and fairly good at navigating. With those as my frame of reference, I was not totally impressed with this Magellan RoadMate.
