Summary: Excellent for someone who hates technology...At my age i don't like change and this is perfect ..Straightforward easy to use and figure out .I highly recommend this for men who won't ask directions ..It cuts way down on back seat drivers also The price was the lowest i have seen also ..it was in my hands in like 3 days .. *** Just a note use the battery until its dead ..Don't drive around with it plugged in ..I did this to my old one and it ruined the battery .
Summary: I use to laugh at people who used GPS systems. But when we decided to take an off the beaten path road trip across the states I thought it was a good idea to get one. NOW I won't leave home without it! It can give road directions find hotels (that take dogs) and just about anywhere to eat. WE LOVE OUR MAGELLAN!
Summary: Ive been using this navy for about 4 years and love it. Easy to navigate and use. loud and clear and says the name of the streets. Very accurate. Hasnt failed me once. I also have factory navy in my GMC and Id still rather use the Roadmate 1412. I do need to update to a new map, but it still works great. Display would be nice if it were 5".
Summary: We used it about 40 times and then it failed. $3 per use. Fun while it lasted, but no value for money in the product. There was no dropping of the roadmate, no leaving it on accidentally, no damage, no firmware update, no fault of mine, seriously! So poorly built that it just bricked itself. Far more expensive than a good set of maps that last a decade.
Summary: Love the GPS. I had one just like it for about 3 years. I bought it because it was a new system and the price was right. There is nothing to dislike about the Magellan 1412. It is easy to use even for an elderly person like myself. I haven't used any other GPS so I can't really compare it to any others but my philosopy in life is " if it isn't broke don't fix it".
Summary: This GPS does everything you need it to do. Great devise for getting you where you need to be. All GPS receivers are basically the same. The thing I like most about this one is that it tells you the name of the road you are to turn on. Some gps do not, they just say turn right in 50 yrds. or next road turn right. Every person likes different things, I like this better than the tom tom, but my son likes tom tom better?
Summary: Small little thingy. I had the big Magellan and it got me lost going home. So I got this puppy. It is easier to use so far. Battery last a lot longer too. I like the real switch vs the old unit having to time out for ten seconds. It is easier to remove and reinstall also. I got a service contract and watch out, It will fail a month out of contract. So far it is great and I hope it works for a few years or more.
My new ; Magellan RoadMate 1412 Automotive GPS Receiver
2 March 2011
Summary: Wife and i wanted a unit to use so that we could make it easier to get to classic auto show locations in the summer.. Didn't want a unit that was going to break the bank because we only plan to use it a fiew times each summer...We borrowed one just like this one and found it to be such a simple to operate perfect working unit that we didn't think we could find anything that would work any better for our needs...
Summary: I really like how user friendly the GPS is. The clarity of the LCD screen and the volume is loud enough that I can hear it and play my music! The 4.3 inch LCD is perfect for my auto not too long that it obstructs my vision but large enough that I can clearly see it. I do not have anything negative to say for the cost I am very impressed.
Summary: I got the Magellan Roadmate 1412 from ebay and it has worked very well serving me well on numerous road trips. Only thing with the GOS is that it has an operating temperature concern - if you want to use it in Winter - wait for atleast 5 minutes for it to warm up before the directions start showing properly. Battery life is limited but then I would not generalize this because I bought a used one on ebay.
