Summary: Great item, works well, good price, just what I needed, would buy again.Unit works well and had item before, easy to read, finds what you want. Good picture, good sound, and everything with it.
Summary: I was duped! Gps literally turned on for like 5min. Then shut off and never worked since then. I feel like purchasing GPS's off ebay isn't smart because say you need the cd installation to reprogram, some don't send because they either lost it, broke it or just don't care. I can't even reset or do anything with the GPS. I just wasted money I could've used toward something better. Oh wells, lesson learned in my case but I wish there were more honest people out there.
Summary: The Magellan 1400is easy to use and has a large, easy to read screen, but within a few months it began giving wrong directions on occasion, often accompanied by a burning electrical smell. A few months ago the touch screen began acting up and wouldn't respond. Now it's completely dead and the reset button didn't cure the problem. Perhaps I got a lemon, but I'm not sure I'd purchase another Magellan product.
Summary: I got this with high hopes, as this was the first GPS I'd ever bought. Bought this almost 2 years ago, but probably have used less than 30 times. Each time I power this up, it takes Kathy (our nickname for the female voice) between 2-10 minutes to lock onto satellites (the delay often rendering it useless). Quite often when trying to enter information, the screen would hesitate, or lock completely, thus rendering data input difficult if not impossible.
Summary: It's not a bad GPS. Negatives are volume isn't great. Text to speech sounds like the girl is eating bananas. Features are easy to use. I own 5 GPS units ..2 are Garmins...3 magellans and Garmins are just a better GPS in my opinion.
Summary: Our parents had one and we always borrowed it. It is easy to navigate without instructions and you don't have to constantly look at it while driving because it tells you clearly what direction to turn and is pretty fairly accurate. I can't judge this against anything else but it is of good quality and does the job. If you can find one on ebay for as little as $58.00,(which is the price mine was,) I would not hesitate to purchase it.
Summary: This is the first foray I've made into the GPS realm. It took me a while, and I've given the Magellan a few weeks, so here goes. I'll start with the prominent negatives: The battery life is annoying, it takes forever to charge-I mean like 12 hours, so its a good idea to keep it plugged into your car while using.
