Summary: Like a computer it takes time to learn your way around.Once done it is great. The online manual could be easier to use. I think it is like many devices like dvrs, laptops and digital cameras ,the computer illiterate need extra time and help.
The Meridian Gold - Gold Standard for GPS units, features, solid quality.
10 July 2011
Summary: This review is for a 6 year old used Meridian Gold GPS Receiver. It is in better shape than the broken Meridian Color that it replaced with much less use than the one that helped break a fall on a mountain trail. After heavily using the Meridian Color for years, the Meridian Gold was easy to learn as it only has a couple of different "features." This was also the reason I chose to purchase the Meridian Gold in the first place.
Summary: It's an old school gray scale gps that is good for outdoor activites but not for driving. There in no auto routing for driving but if you need a gps to mark your favroite hunting or fishing spots or getting you back to your camp site this unit will get the the job done. It also works well for direction, speed and etc.
Summary: The meridian gps units are a great hand held device. The screen is large enough to see in low light. The controls are large enough to operate with even the thickest gloves or mittens. I personally used one to thru hike the AT.
Summary: This is my second one (lost the first one) and I have no complaints. The extended memory let this hand held give you directions to addresses. Plenty of waypoints and easy to use. Plenty of points of interest and locates your postion very quickly. Rugged for the outdoors and easy to use in the car.
Great GPS unit. Perfect Condition and operation...THANK

Summary: Like new conditon, absolutely spotless, much nicer than I expected, and the unit operates perfectly. Really like the larger screen than many of the older units. GPS units have become my new passion, since I bought a combo sonar/gps unit for fishing. These things are great. And LOVE the deals on E-BAY..
Summary: I bought one of these units new for $250.00 at Sam's Club about 7 years ago and laid out monitoring well sites for the County and it worked flawlessly until I left weak batteries in it and one of them leaked ruining the LCD display. I ussed it on my sailboat for years keeping me out of trouble by using the data with good nautical charts and checked the accuracy with a sextant and the Magellan coordinates were always trustworthy.
