Summary: I really like this GPS. The screen is large. The volume is plenty loud enough. I keep the volume set at medium. At dusk it switches from a bright to a dark screen. The voice is pleasant and easy to understand. It is easy to enter street data. The directions are accurate. I give the device a mediocre review for two reasons. I purchased two (not from amazon). Both were new and the battery would not hold a charge. However, it is easily replaced for about $19.
Summary: The 5 inch screen is a very big improvement over the 4" screen. I went from an installed GPS unit in my car to this unit. It is easy to see and very easy to program. Maps are up to date and the AAA tour book is very useful.
Summary: I got this unit as a Christmas gift, I think it came from Costco. I have never owned a GPS unit before, so I didn't really know what to look/ask for in a GPS. The first thing I noticed out of the box on this unit is the size of the screen, it is big! Most GPS's I've seen are the ones with small screens, so I was surprised at how big the screen is.
Summary: I purchased this unit after evaluating several different vendors and models. It was exactly what I wanted however - PLEASE NOTE THE UNIT DOES NOT HAVE BLUETOOTH NOR VOICE COMMANDS. Amazon has yet to change the descriptions as someone else noted this months ago. The unit works well and I have done the free OS upgrade .
Summary: This is a beautiful new toy! I love my Magellan Maestro. I have had several GPS's ... usually settling for value over quality. This time I went with what I knew I wanted...larger screen, brighter picture (the others you could not see the screen during the daytime - this one is very clear and bright!
Summary: overall the Magellan Maestro 5310 is pretty good, i've read that the garmin are slightly better however i chose the magellan because i am able to switch routing type while in route such as (avoid freeway, easy route, shortest route) etc. while with the garmin there is a series of hoops you have to jump through to change and it isn't dynamic. the Magellan didn't get the last star from me is because of the power chord/plug issue.
Summary: I use the Magellan 5310 for traveling. One of the greatest thing was the price at J&R Music World, and the very friendly sales people. They were not pushing me into purchasing I didn't need like one other place I call. The Magellan 5310 is Magellan's top of the line GPS and for the price at J&R I think it was worth it.
Pros: Compact, Easy To Read, Easy To Set Up, Long Battery Life, Reliable Performance, Simple Controls, Strong Construction
Clarification on unit specs. - Magellan Maestro 5310

Summary: Just to clarify: I own this unit and while it's exactly what I was looking for (needing neither Bluetooth nor Voice Command) I can clarify the inaccurate information stated above - the 5310 has neither of these features. The Magellan Maestro 4050 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator has both features available for those who are interested. It is possible that we'll see Voice Command came out as an upgrade for the 5310 as it did for the 4050, but it's not there now.
