  • Summary: I was very disappointed with the GPS, bought it for a trip to Calif. and could not get it to hold a charge, after checking the battery realized it was bad, and have ordered a new battery hoping that it will turn on so I can try to see if the unit is any good. never will buy a remanufactured item again.

Magellan Maestro 5310 review

Donald A Schmidt, Amazon
14 January 2013
  • Summary: I found this navigator to be nearly flawless. I prefer a mobile unit rather than a dash mounted unit and this works perfectly for me. When traveling I carry it and plug it into my rental car. The 5" screen size is perfect. The signal is solid unless I am in a tunnel. The only negative issue is that the internal battery initially did not hold its charge for very long and now does not hold it at all which means it will not function unless it is attached to a 12V supply.

I would buy it again

  • Summary: Large easy to read display. Good voice prompts. On the down side...once in a while it doesn't know how to get you to where you are going! Specifically, if you ignore back to back suggestions to correct what it perceives to be a failure to listen to its suggestions, it might get a bit wacky!

VERY disappointed!!!!!!

Holly Huddleston, Amazon
7 July 2011
  • Summary: I had this GPS for a little over a year. It worked absolutely perfect and was used on literally a daily basis over that year. However, after the 1 year warrenty was up (as if on cue) it suddenly just "died!" It was not dropped, scratched, exposed to weather elements or anything!!! It just simply went blank and quit working.

Large GPS, total coverage of North America

43britt19v, Ebay
7 April 2011
  • Summary: This Magellan GPS has all the options I like in a mobile unit, covering all of North America (including Alaska and Canada), in a compact unit. I was able to get a complete unit for a reasonable price, having all the original options that came with the unit, for a very reasonable price. I was also able to investigate and secure an update to make the unit curent with existing roads and AAA lodgings and travel data.

Magellan Maestro 5310 Automotive GPS Receiver

aqhaapha, Ebay
12 February 2011
  • Summary: My old Magellan quit working and I was looking for a replacement. This unit had a large screen and it was priced right, so I gave it a try. It works just like my old unit so there was no learning curve. The larger screen is a definate improvement and the volumne has the capibality to be much louder which is also much nicer. All in all I would not hesitate to recommend this unit to anyone who wants to get from point A to B.

Poor support

wayne, Amazon
31 October 2010
  • Summary: The first unit I received was defective and true to what I've come to expect from Amazon, it was quickly replaced. The operation is straightforward and easy to learn, which is a good thing since the documentation is sparse. The map included was outdated, and in several instances, the device led me on a round about way of getting there.
