Summary: Beware of the Magellan 4370. In a year and 1 month, I went through 4 of these units before Magellan gave up and sent me a different model of GPS. The first two I received, the battery would not hold a charge. The third unit, hung up multiple times per trip usage. You have to power the unit off/on to reset or at other times, you have to press the reset button on the base of the unit, to get it to reset.
Summary: This unit is absolutely top rate when locating you and getting you dead on to a requested location. However, with the unit less than a year old, the battery has completely failed. This means that if your cigarette lighter turns power off when you turn off the ignition, then the unit has to do a total and complete reboot, which sometimes takes 10 or 15 minutes. The battery cannot be replaced, but you have to do an RMA and send the unit back to Magellan to get it replaced.
Summary: I bought this product on price and the fact that my faithful Garmin Quest was getting long in the tooth. The Garmin had features like road or topo maps, easy use for hiking, simple configuration of features like altitude, etc. This product does not. The basic GPS capability is fine. But it locks up about once a week and must be reset. Resetting loses all of your waypoints, etc. You get what you pay for.
Summary: I bought two of these units. Upon receipt, one worked fine and son #2 loves it. I also gave one to son #1. Son #1's unit has a series of black dots scattered across the display underneath the screen (looks like ink spots). It is not useful at all in this condition. Contacted customer service (magellan, not Amazon) and they gave me a couple of suggestions that didn't work.
Summary: The 4370 has a tendency to freeze. A reset usually fixes the problem. When it really gets haywire, I plug it into my computer and do Win 7 disk maintenance (scan to fix errors and defrag). Their tech support said they would forward this tip to the factory. The absolute worst complaint I have is NO UPDATES!!! The unit is still running on 2008 Q2 information in July 2010. Tech support has no idea when I can purchase an update.
Summary: I purchased this for my son. It worked great for 7 months, but then it FROZE up at the start up screen! I had bought my daughter a new 1440 Magellan and it froze up as well in the first year. Yet the warrenty on it covered it. I just found out that the 4370 because it was refurbished only had a 90 day warrenty. THe best Megellan support can do for me now is to offer a 4700 at the same price as Amazon.
Summary: THIS GPS I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM. I HAD IT FOR TWO MONTHS AND IT LOCKED UP ON ME AND WOULD AND COULD NOT RESET IT. ALTHOUGH I SEE THEY HAVE CHANGED THE WARRANTY CO. I DID RECOUP $125.00 OUT OF $160.00 THAT I SPENT ON THE UNIT PLUS THE SHIPPING IT BACK TO THE WARRANTY MANUFACTURE. HOWEVER THE GPS UNIT WAS GREAT WHILE IT WORKED I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE WARRANTY CO. WHICH IS CONSUMER PRIORITY PLUS. I SEE THEY HAVE CHANGED TO SQUARE TRADE PLUS. HOPEFULLY THEY DO A BETTER JOB.

Summary: The product works as advertised. There is nothing wrong with the product, but a lot wrong with Magellan. When I received the unit the instructions were sparse, to say the least. I tried to contact Magellan on the web. You can't. They refer all questions to a pay-per-answer company. It cost me $11 to find that there is a PDF instruction book. 66 Pages! Why this couldn't have been sent with the unit is beyond me.
Summary: I received my refurbished Magellan 4370 GPS from Amazon with much excitement. Plugged it in to charge overnite only to find out in the morning that the internal battery will not keep a charge. Called Magellan and sent the unit to them for warranty service. Two weeks later I received the unit (different S/N, so I received a different refurbished unit), charged it overnite, and guess what? This unit will not hold the charge either.
