Piece of Crap

pitchperfect, Amazon
24 October 2009
  • Summary: My Magellan Maestro died about a month ago and I needed to go on a long trip out of state. I saw that this one was a whole lot cheaper but still the same brand so I went ahead and bought it. BIG MISTAKE. This model is much more cheaply made than my last and was completely unacceptable.

incredibly disappointing

L. Weimer, Amazon

  • Summary: My Maestro 3100 only lasted a few months before I started having problems with it. It stopped holding its charge, despite always being plugged into it's power source. Having sent the unit in for repair under warranty, I'm compelled to advise Amazon buyers to stay away from Magellan products.

Fantastic GPS for the Money

D. Rand, Amazon
3 December 2007
  • Summary: My first GPS was a Magellan Roadmate 700 for $1000 a few years ago. Most of the time, it would take 15 to 20 minutes to acquire enough satelites to navigate. I just purchased the Maestro 3100 containing up-to-date (April 2007) maps from Amazon for $165 (it's now $150!).

  • Summary: This is my 3rd time to buy this product, same model. But, I have to say, I'm so DISsatisfied this time. I bought the 1st one for my aunt, 2nd one for my friend, and I even used those in their cars by myself.

Great basic GPS

Marty B "Marty B", Amazon
26 August 2007
  • Summary: On a recent business trip, my rental car was broken into in a hotel parking lot. Though my Tom Tom Go was safe in my room, the mount and charge cords were stolen. Since my Tom Tom was a couple of years old, the battery life was poor and I needed to replace the unit to complete my trip.

A great value for the money, and has saved me $

  • Summary: I bought this late in 2007 to help me from getting lost in Fairfax County VA. Since then, I've moved to Florida, and it's just as useful here. BUT YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE MECHANICAL LADY. She is almost always right.

  • Summary: Wow. This is so simple to use and is accurate down to a couple of FEET! I needed one of these years ago. This model does not "announce" street names, but it shows the street names on the screen.

  • Summary: This is a great product. We bought this as a gift for a friend and both him and his wife are very happy with it. I personally have a garmin and used to have a tomtom. I didn't like the tomtom but I really like the garmin so I wanted that for my friend but when I saw the bargain that megellan was...
