Obsolete - Satellites No Longer in Operation

Kenneth F. Anderson "kfander", Amazon
4 June 2012
  • Summary: I recently ordered one of these from a third-party seller on Amazon. When it arrived, it refused to connect to a satellite. When I called Magellan to see what was wrong, I was told that the product was obsolete, and that it was set to use satellites that were no longer in operation.

  • Summary: I bought this item to use basicly for geocaching. It worked good to lead me to the cache zone within a few feet. I soon found out that I needed a few more features like computer connection through usb and in order to do that I would need more items to go with this unit.

  • Summary: I have simple needs for my handheld GPS. I do a lot of hiking. When I'm on a trail hike I simply want to know distance traveled and elevation. When hiking without trails I want to make sure I can find my way back to the starting point. My new Magellan serves these uses very well.

  • Summary: The Magellan GPS 315 offers a lot of features to the right user. If you are looking for a unit to be used in the car to get you from ppint A to point B, this is not the one to consider. This is primarily for the hiker, boater, and anyone interested in GPS gaming.

Good GPS for the money/maybe "vintage" but still quite usefull!

quikdrawmagraw, Ebay
12 June 2011
  • Summary: The Magellan 315 may be a little outdated amoung handheld GPS units but this one works just fine. The AA batteries last for at least 8 hours and the unit has no trouble finding it's position. It takes a minute or two to link up on startup but no longer than the new GPS unit in my Jeep.

Magellan 315 GPS

11 October 2010
  • Summary: Two of my Tent Mates in Iraq had Magellan 315's. They worked flawlessly. They are very user friendly and extemely durable. There are newer fancier GPS units out there, but if you want one that is dependable, easy to use and low cost, the 315 fits the bill.
