  • Summary: This GPS is designed for geocaching and has eliminated the need for paper waste in printing out maps, cache description, hints and other cacher's comments. It's pretty cool and easy to use.

  • Summary: I am very new to geocaching having only logged 20 finds so far. The Magellan Explorist GC has been very user friendly and seems to get me very close to the actual find. It is a great way to get started in the geocaching world. By being able to download caches from geocaching.com you have all the information you need right at your fingertips without the necessity of needing a cellphone app as a backup.

  • Pros: This is a very fine piece of technology. Not only does it do what I want it to, it challenges with more to learn. Good choice as one of your offered products.
  • Cons: So many features, I had trouble knowing where to start playing. Not really a con, just wanted to learn all I could as quick as I could and waited an extra day before using.

Perfect for Geocaching!

  • Summary: We are beginner Geocahers, but have caught the "bug" so to speak. I was tired of using my expensive Android, and was worried about letting others handle it or taking into wooded/swampy areas to keep track of the GPS. We invested in this one and I don't care who has or where they take it!

great gps

  • Summary: Bought it for geocaching. It had old software, so had to upgrade it. I've been using it ever since, and love it. It's my best caching buddy. The battery tends to go fast, though. I would recommend using rechargeable batteries and carry an extra set of batteries with you.

  • Summary: I just started Geocaching so bought this gps. Now that I've put it through it's paces, I find it works great. It is easily recognized by my computer as another storage device. I had no trouble at all getting a file off geocaching.com of the geocaches in my area and transferring them to the unit. It locks on quickly to the satellites. The accuracy is excellent and it's easy to use. All geocaches were within a few feet. The battery life is excellent.

  • Summary: This GPS is great for Geocaching. Like the other Magellan GPSs the menus are easy to figure out so there is no need for a user manual. Other users have had problems with signal in thick trees. I can get a full signal sitting in my house. Thick trees and overcast, same thing. With this one you have to be careful not to have it on "suspend" mode when storing it. I made that mistake and killed the first set of batteries.
