Summary: I like my iPhone 4s for geocaching but the battery life was only about 5 hours. I chose this GPS Receiver with a toggle switch vs a touch screen to avoid unwanted screen changes due to operator error. This device fit my two needs for pure geocaching at a affordable price that fit my budget. It does jump around a bit in heavy tree coverage but my iPhone did it too. It does jump around when a plane flies overhead a bit but corrects itself quickly.
Summary: I use the eXplorist GC for goecaching only, but the base map is great. Almost every road is loaded onto this unit, making geocaching in the city a breeze. Auto-zoom feature is nice. Backlight is controlled by a timer of inactivity. Running the backlight will reduce battery life quite a bit. Toggle button is sometimes hard to use. If this is something that may frustrate you, you may want to look for a touch screen instead. It's also slow to get a signal.
Summary: Received it and it didn't work. The power would turn on and then freeze on the logo screen. I called Magellan and tried to get it replaced. After spending more than an hour on the phone with them, they wanted me to send it back to be replaced by a new one. AND THEN...they looked up my order and decided I bought it several months before I actually did and that not only would they not replace it for a new unit but I may not even be able to receive a refurbished one!

Summary: hardware breaks within a month of small use. gone through two replacements now. at this rate, expect to be on my fifth within the warranty and then after wards i am out of luck on getting a replacment. both times their was no physical damage nor did i even drop it. just banged around in my backback a little.
Summary: This is the worst gps I have bought. I bought it for geo caching and it is normally about 60' off my phone has always been a lot more accurate. I purchased this because I thought it would be nice to connect it to the computer and store the caches on the gps but the can never get that to work right. tried on 3 computers and always the same thing. I wish I never bought this one. Spen the extra money for a better one!!
Summary: I purchased this unit a while ago, but feel I need to post another review. The first unit went bad about 2 days after I received it. A series of pixelated lines showed up on the screen. Even when the unit was turned off, the lines were visible in the screen. Due to the short time, Amazon replaced it immediately, with no issues. The second one lasted about a month. The same type of phantom lines showed up, and it no longer would connect to satellites.
Summary: I chose to purchase this item as a gift for someone that is wanting to get into geocaching. I have used Garmin's in the past, but this product boasted of being perfect for beginner cachers, and even created specifaclly for that purpose. When I received the unit, I took it out of the box, put in fresh batteries, powered it on and... nothing. I thought, "maybe I need to hold the power button." Still nothing.
