Summary: I have used my Magellan every weekend this summer and it hasn't let me down yet. Fast signal, even under heavy tree cover. Easy to use and very accurate. Some other reviews have commented on the poor battery life. I use rechargeable batteries and I have had no issues with poor battery life. I can hike all day without having to change the battery. I also have had no issues with the touchscreen response as others have commented on.
Summary: Upgrade to this GPS from GC Explorist. Very accurate and easy to use. Friendly touchscreen and easy to customize to your own preferences. My favorite GPS to date. I use this almost exclusively for geocaching. 2 thumbs up from me!
Summary: It is great for off-road. Preloaded maps and topographic overlay is great. Many dirt roads are named. I had bought the 610 first and was struggling with the touch screen so I bought the 310 to give it a try. Well, I found that I quickly got use to and preferred the touch screen on the 610 over messing with the joystick on the 310. I like the 610 much better so I returned the 310. This is a cost effective GPS. Creating and saving Way Points is easy to figure out.
Highly recommended! Definitely great value for the money! Awesome GPS!

Summary: Household members are satisfied. GPS seems to respond very well to the touch. Fast, crisp, clear. A gift to our 12 year old Boy Scout, he can definitely navigate and use this for a long time! We have a happy camper in our brood! LOL! Although we just opened the box and still trying to read the instructions and navigate the system and icons, we're quite happy with this gift from our son's Aunt!
Unparelled technology in GPS , very good value for money .

Summary: I brought it for navigating our sub tropical forest while hunting & because it looked like a good deal.Owned a Explorist 300 before this & that was great but limited with out topo maps this unit has. The touch screen make for easy & quick nav; ,with back light even in the dark .Can get a positional fix inside my house so the thickest of forest ain't a problem either.
Summary: I looked at tons of GPS devices before deciding upon this one and while I'm still getting used to it I've got to say that this is a great device. While the device itself is reasonably intuitive I would definitely recommend that you download the owners manual and spend time reviewing it in order to fully understand the many options.
Summary: I own three other GPS units besides the Magellan Explorist 610. The Explorist is BY FAR the best unit for any serious outdoors person that has a need for a GPS. I hunt elk in mountains of Colorado and the 610 has several features that can be extreemly usefull or might even save your life. The menu functions are fairly easy to use but you need to download the full owners manual from the Magellan webb site to fully appreciate what the unit can do.
