Summary: I chose this product over the Garmin 60cs based on the SD card and rechargable battery... I am feeling very nervous about my choice... First off... One downside of the "pc style file system" is that it can get corrupted.. Mine did and a search on the Internet revealed that I was not the only one that it happened to.. There is no supported method for an end user to reload the basemap to the system if it gets corrupted.
Summary: I recently purchased an explorist 600. I have called customer service for advice on upgrading, adding maps, etc on this unit. Their customer service is very unresponsive, to the point that they are almost rude. I have spent over two hours on hold for them, to finally get an agent that speaks limited English. I have emailed them, asking an english speaking representative to call me to no avail.
Summary: I was all set to by a Garmin and let myself be talked into buying this. Short and sweet XP Pro doesn't recognize the driver even if you say it's ok. Installs it but, won't use it. That means the GPS will not communicate with the computer. MapSend Direct is also imcompatable with XP Pro so it doesn't matter if it talks to the computer or not. I've sent off my e-mails to Magellan but, I hear their support is sad.
Summary: I have mostly bad things to say about this machine. I use it for running, trekking and bicycling. 1. On a rainy day reception is very poor. When putting the GPS inside a plastic cover on my bicycle handle bar, performance is awfal (on a sunny day performance is great) 2. When erasing an old track the machine has to pause for 15 sec or so before I get the menu screen. QUite annoying. 3. Don't even think about buying this GPS if you live in Singapore.
