  • Summary: I have had this for some years now (about 2 months after it was 1st released), no problems, I never had to call CS, so I can't comment on that. I have gotten is wet, snowed on, in cool weather (20's), hot weather (over 105) & dropped it a few times.

  • Summary: Magellan Customer service is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. They offer a free 30 day map update since all of their products ship with out of date maps. This would be a good thing except it is in the fine print of their products and their customer support email address that their...

  • Summary: I accidently destroyed my 600 and was looking to replace it until I found out that the map software is not transferable to a replacement. At least thats what I thought I read in the e-mail support reply: >>"I understand from your mail that, you can tranfer maps from one unit to another.

  • Summary: I will never buy another Magellan product. I have sent my Magellan eXplorist 600 back for repairs three times. Twice because it burned out as soon as I plugged it into my car charger (using the appropriate Magellan car adapter).

  • Summary: I own both the Explorist 600 and Garmin 60CSX. It would be great if I could combine the two. Although both Magellan and Garmin have newer, more expensive models out, the new units have their own problems so I have not been tempted to upgrade.

Great GPS

Daniel R. Koneck, Amazon
25 March 2007
  • Summary: This is one of the best GPS's I have ever used. I had a problem with the electronic compass at first. Amazon gladly returned and gave me another one. This one is great for every need I come across. I have no complaints.

I think I made the right choice

Apex shopper, Amazon
22 December 2006
  • Summary: I gave my son a Garmin 60C for Christmas last year. Tinkered with it for a couple of days before handing it over. It worked well. Of course I wanted one for myself, but cash is cash, so I've been putting it off.

After sales service

Neville Prosser "nap", Amazon
9 November 2006
  • Summary: Although I am happy with the product, I have send several emails to Magellan seeking assistance, but none have been replied too. This may be because I am from Australia, which if that is a problem I should not deal with overseas companies like Amazon. Regards Neville Prosser

reduced from 5 to 2 stars but Amazon will not allow me to edit

Denis J. EVANS, Amazon
7 September 2006
  • Summary: I have had no (emphasis NO) software or hardware problems with my unit. I have owned 4 GPS's over the years. I like the user interface on my Garmin eTrex Vista better. But this unit gets faster fixes and works better under trees. It's a 14 channel rather than 12 channel receiver.
