Not necessary like pagers in the past!

Isaac A., Amazon

  • Summary: A Great navigational system for hiking and/ or marine traveling, but not really for cars. I believe it is now outdated so there is probably better options out there or an app even on your phone!

eXplorist 600 fills the need

John Massie, Amazon
6 May 2013
  • Summary: This is what I needed to be able to input a card with the boundaries of the hunting club I'm in. All the other 80 members have this card. The area is divided into about 50 separate hunting areas and its important to keep out of the other hunter's way. I've been hunting this club for 6 years and finally got the 600 I needed all along.

  • Summary: i have owned the explorist 600 for over 5 years. I am a an avid hunter and walk alot. i use my gps for saving hunting spots -thats it and to get me back to a truck or atv. This unit works fantastic. keeps gps signal. has eltric compass which keeps me on track even if i walk in wrong direction two steps. WAAS technology so i am always on top of deer area and deer stand. THIS is a HUNTING GPS. Screen is great - i have worn the buttons out on it after 5 years though.

Magellan Exp 600

  • Summary: I like the explorist gps. I have owned one before and am familiar with them and comfortable. I am not sure if I like the rechargable battery or replaceable batteries. I was lost once a few years back and spent the night out in subfreezing weather. Never again! The explorist is a good fit for me.

Magellan eXplorist 600 Handheld GPS

william C. McQuiston, Amazon
9 August 2010
  • Summary: After having bought the Explorist 200 and 500 and looking for the best in the series of Explorist's from Magellan, I purchased the Explorist 600. I quickly fell in love with it. From the feel and use I could tell the 600 was for me. Just screwing on the adapter to the back to charge the battery just felt a little industrial as compared to the 500. I had several 500's and I will tell you the 600 was quicker and better built.

  • Summary: I have had this for some years now (about 2 months after it was 1st released), no problems, I never had to call CS, so I can't comment on that. I have gotten is wet, snowed on, in cool weather (20's), hot weather (over 105) & dropped it a few times. Uploading maps, using Topo 3d, goes better when putting the SD into the SD card reader on my computer (O/S XP pro), I don't like having to take out the battery to get to the SD card As time has gone by the battery seem to...
