Description partially misleading

Nutty, Amazon
22 March 2013
  • Summary: I received the Summit Series Explorist 510 and am very happy with it. The description at the top of the page is misleading. You might be under the impression that it comes with ALL 9 regional maps, or at least the US topo maps and it does Not.

  • Summary: I love this GPS. I started to geo-cache after I got this and my family and I have been having a blast. Great features. my first GPS. The maps are full color and easy to see. Works a bit like a i-pod touch. the only down side is battery life. The GPS signal really sucks power.

Great Product for First Timers

Student, Amazon
25 January 2013
  • Summary: My wife and I had little experience with GPS devices other than using google maps on my android phone, so needless to say, I was impressed with this product. The first objection to this model, though, has to be the price. Why is it at least twice the price of other, units?

Not for use in bright sunlight.

K. Cook, Amazon
28 November 2012
  • Summary: Technically, the unit works great. It works very good under heavy tree cover. I only gave it 4 stars because the display is almost unuseable in outside light. I have to turn the brightness all the way up to see it, even on cloudy days.

  • Summary: Unit shipped quickly and was exactly as advertised. A little complicated to learn to use it at first. I like the Marine feature giving the depth of water.

If I'm in unfamiliar woods, I want to have this on me.

Peter Shermeta, Amazon
27 November 2012
  • Summary: 1) Great size. This thing can be taken anywhere and is a tool you want to use, not a cumbersome burden you try to convince yourself you don't need. 2) Touch screen sensitivity could be improved. Many other reviewers have noted this. I don't think it is a huge deal, but it is true.

I like the eXplorist, though I had a problem with this unit

JZ, Amazon
27 November 2012
  • Summary: So I ordered the GPS and was excited to use it. I downloaded the latest software following the instructions and it crashed the unit. I couldn't get it to work at all ... it would boot with an error. Emailed with Magellan tech support and they had me ship the old unit it so they can replace it.
