Explorist 500 best of the cheap GPS for Geocaching
26 May 2010
Summary: I had one of these and lost it. I then choose to get a Triton300 an I absolutely hate it. I have been looking for a good Explorist 500. Good points.. Unlimited geocaches routes and saved data(creative filing) No more than 500 geocaches to a file. So for me when I am in Fort Lauderdale. I use the geocaches for Lauderdale. When in Fort Pierce I use the Fort Pierce file.
Summary: love the gps! and i like that it has the lithium ion batteries too, that thing will run forever now. the only complaint i have has nothing to do with the seller, but for future reference, if you had a gps before and thought that you could use the old backround map program for your new one...think again... it will just take up your internal memory and just be completely useless. but other than my own personal problems, this dude rocks!!!
Summary: I love this thing it has a very strong case, color screen, easy navigation easy controls. the charger and usb cord are one and kind of bulky when pluged in to the car but works great. we do alot of geocaching and where useing a car gps we bought this one for Geocaching it works so much better. If your looking for a very good inexpensive gps unit then the Magellan eXplorist™ 500 Handheld GPS Receiver is what you are looking for.
