Summary: eXporist 310. I really did like the look of this unit and the fit of the unit in my hand. I loved the display and how detailed it could be depending on where you were. It is an extremely accurate unit once it tracks the satellites. I would certainly recommend this product to people who have owned GPS in the past. If you have never used a GPS this unit would be a very difficult unit to start with.
Summary: I lost my 13 year old Garmin 12 and replaced it with this unit. Took a while to get use to, but I like the paperless geocaching features. The screen is small and hard to read sometimes. I'm finding caches again.
Summary: I had to wear my glasses to see it. It is great for offroad. Preloaded maps and topo overlay is great. Many dirt roads are named. I had bought the 610 first and was struggling with the touch screen so I bought the 310 to give it a try. Well I preferred the 610 better so I returned the 310. The 310 operates similar to my old Magellan Meridian that I loved but broke it on accident. This is a ccost effective beginner GPS.
Summary: Maybe my Magellan Roadmate spoiled me, I expected the same experience from the 310 handheld that I did with it. Although the 310 did it's job there were a few things that had I known would have caused me second thoughts. The screen is a bit small and not as easy to read in full daylight as they would have you to believe. This problem is compounded by small and thin fonts that are NOT changeable (nearly everything else on the 310 is).
Summary: I bought this item for a present, it was delivered perfectly thanks to Amazon, and the product appears to be a quality product, however I wouldn't know as I am unable to use it. The unit is not preloaded with the Kirsch's Hunting Trax Maps, you must go to the Magellan website and download them. The problem is I have spent several HOURS on the phone with Magellan, dealing with technical issues trying to set up an account, to now dealing with an expired download code.
Summary: I enjoy hiking and I have an android phone with many GPS / Trail / Hiking / Topo maps available and I love them. They are responsive and user friendly. However the battery life of my, and many smart phones, is horrible. Hence the purchase of the Magellan Explorist 310 topo bundle. The product has grown on me over time but it has been a difficult transition from smart phone to this dedicated gps.
Summary: Got this for Christmas to use for geocaching and I have had a hard time figuring out how to use it, but it is getting better. Like it better than hubby's Magellan Triton 400. I am new to GPS use except for the one installed in my car. It is easy to download the info and all, but knowing which way to get to the spot we need hasn't always been easy. No manual came with it and I didn't always have a computer handy to find it online.
