The "active suspend mode", meaningless.

g7s6lh, Ebay
8 September 2013
  • Summary: Performance of GPS in the normal mode is the same as the Triton. However, the duration of the normal mode 12 hours. It's short. (eneloop use) Therefore, I expected "active suspend mode". But,GPS accuracy in "active suspend mode" is very bad. There is no reason for existence. 310, is a product different from the 510.

Hard to figure out.

Steve McQueary, Amazon
26 August 2013
  • Summary: Bought this for a trip in the Tetons. The only thing I could do with it was too put waypoints on where I have been. At least I have a record of where I have been. Would of liked to known where I was going but I couldn't figure out!

  • Summary: I bought for its ability to load topo maps but it is hard to read and only loads one map region. I doubt you could see contours except under low light conditions with the back light. Otherwise seems rugged enough and the operation is pretty straight forward. I will gift this as I bought a different one from another manufacturer that loads an SD card and comes with topo maps, and while significantly more expensive than the 310, gives me everything in one shot.

Slow & Poor Design

Rainer Otto, Amazon
22 December 2012
  • Summary: I've used this product for 6 months and would not purchase it again. On its first use on a backpacking trip the cover for the center joystick broke off. Generally, the unit is slow to respond to each button push (2-5 seconds). The customer service from Magellan was poor. They replaced the unit but the topo maps would not work because I needed a new version of the maps synced with the serial number from my unit. This took weeks.

explorist 310

Mr. N. S. Matthews, Amazon
2 August 2013
  • Summary: Got this device as a birthday present. It's difficult to say just how good this device is because if you read other reviews many say it is excellent. Anyway. Here is my assessment after two frustrating months with it. It comes loaded with world maps. In case you are wondering what these are, they are basic road maps. The sort you might find in a basic road atlas book. They are nothing more than that I am afraid. So if you want to navigate the roads in a city it's ok.

Nichts für mich

Supporter12, Amazon
19 September 2013

master-buesi, Amazon
19 May 2012
