Feature rich, function poor

Amazon Customer "eaglesong3", Amazon
22 July 2014
  • Summary: This unit doesn't have any reviews yet only because it's the "new" version of the other 310. The only difference between the two is that this one uses two AA batteries instead of a proprietary battery. That's a very good thing. So here are the pros and cons.

The "active suspend mode", meaningless.

g7s6lh, Ebay
8 September 2013
  • Summary: Performance of GPS in the normal mode is the same as the Triton. However, the duration of the normal mode 12 hours. It's short. (eneloop use) Therefore, I expected "active suspend mode". But,GPS accuracy in "active suspend mode" is very bad. There is no reason for existence.

Hard to figure out.

Steve McQueary, Amazon
26 August 2013
  • Summary: Bought this for a trip in the Tetons. The only thing I could do with it was too put waypoints on where I have been. At least I have a record of where I have been. Would of liked to known where I was going but I couldn't figure out!

User Review

ChamaHiker, Walmart
30 March 2013
  • Summary: I bought for its ability to load topo maps but it is hard to read and only loads one map region. I doubt you could see contours except under low light conditions with the back light. Otherwise seems rugged enough and the operation is pretty straight forward.

Slow & Poor Design

Rainer Otto, Amazon
22 December 2012
  • Summary: I've used this product for 6 months and would not purchase it again. On its first use on a backpacking trip the cover for the center joystick broke off. Generally, the unit is slow to respond to each button push (2-5 seconds). The customer service from Magellan was poor.
