Summary: Don't waste your money on the eXplorist 310. I bought one eight months ago to use for kayaking. I wanted to know speed, distance, route, etc. It does give you those things, but it is not at all intuitive to operate and the display is very difficult to read in the sun.
Summary: Not sure why Magellan is not compatible with Mac but they should advertise that upfront. I bought the GPS and it arrived on time but I cannot use any of the special features not can I download the Fishing Hot Spots since they only work on a PC. Waste of my money...
Summary: My wife purchased this for me as a gift. used maybe 6 times and went to start it up one day but it just shows a white screen. Called Magellan and they tried very little to help then said that I would have to buy a new one as they would not repair it.
Summary: Pros: Good price, nice features Cons: Good features do not do you any good if it won't talk to the birds above. The nice folks at Magellan are sending me a replacement because mine does everything but get fixes from the satellites. Once I get the replacement, I'll do another review.
Summary: Terrible little device. Takes forever to power on and lock on. The menu system is infuriatingly bad. And the CPU is too slow, so when you press any button, it takes up to 5 seconds before anything changes on the screen, so you're always waiting for the device to catch up to your commands.
Summary: GPS signal is nowhere to be found "outdoors or indoors". When it finds signal most of the time is pretty weak. The map is also outdated so you will find that a lot of the roads are missing. When zooming in the only thing that you will find on the maps is green or brown color.
Summary: I used the GPS on a short 4 day hike and didn't find it very user friendly but at least it seemed to be working ok. I put it away for a year in its box and then took it with me on a months trek to Nepal.
Summary: I recieved the first one after it would not load I cantacted Magellan after serveral tries they said it was defective. Got a second one from Amazon. I was unable to turn it on so again I sent it back. I have several stationary GPS's and they have always worked fine. They are not Magellan.
