Won't acquire signal! Expensive piece of garbage!

A. thompson "A. Thompson", Amazon
26 September 2014
  • Summary: I am so disappointed with this tracker! I haven't gotten to use it even once, because it will NOT pick up signal, even in a flat field with no trees! My son tried it at the top of a mountain with no trees around, and it couldn't acquire the signal! It is an expensive piece of garbage!

Portable GPS

Mike, Amazon
24 October 2012
  • Summary: I never seriously used mine since I don't go off in no mans land looking to get lost. I will say this wasnt user friendly to use and doesn't contain any graphics. But if you wanted to track where you started and get back to it this would do the job I guess. Like I said I dont go looking to get lost so I couldn't test the GPS in god forsaken places. I sold it as it was a gift that went along with another purchase.

not safe

Happy Camper, Amazon
6 October 2012
  • Summary: I don't recommend this unit. The memory is NOT protected and all data will be lost if the 8mb battery dies..which is what happened to me..I was lucky to not be relying on this as a life support..The seller was courteous on the phone but didn't seem worried at the possibility of someone coming to harm and stated they don't recommend relying on just one item and to have a compass or other means of navigation out of the forest.

Not great, but not expensive

weenjive, Ebay
2 March 2012
  • Summary: product is a great intro into the hand held GPS world, but it's not very accurate, and it's a little cumbersome to use. If you want an inexpensive hand held GPS then this is your toy, if you want something really cool, spend the extra money and get something over the top cool.

Excellent Product, Excellent Price

privateye3, Ebay

  • Summary: I needed to locate an exact position. This is my first GPS Receiver. I am amazed at the technology and the accuracy of this handheld unit. It is equally functional under roof, in the car, woods, and open field. A pair of "AA" batteries last all day. The unit includes all the easy to understand instruction I need to navigate anywhere, especially unfamilliar terrain.

Great cheap, easy to use little unit.

  • Summary: This is my second one. Sure there are better ones out there, but for the price it fits the bill for me and does everything I need it for. I use it mainly for hiking, biking and kayaking. It lets me know how to get back, but also how fast/far I'm going.I actually LIKE that it's not rechargable. When I'm out in the middle of no where,it's nice to just chuck a fresh pair of batteries in it, and go.
