Summary: This is one of the earlier GPS units made and a little more simple to operate. It was great for people that are not as tech savvy - like my retired father. He's used his for years (2004) and they don't make them anymore.
Summary: I have used this worldwide on cruses. I pinpoint major cities to I can see how far they are from home, (as the crow flies). If you leave the ship and walk through town, it can track your travelling. If you get lost. Just walk in the direction toward the beginning, you can find your ship again.
Summary: I purchased one of theese 5 years ago and loved that so I knew what I was getting in advance.Great simple GPS,Magellan should consider bringing it back just as your basic GPS. Garmin still makes a basic GPS.Magellan just left that market.
Summary: I have been using my explorist for about 3 years now, have dropped, lost it in a river and found it later, its beaten and scratched and keeps working. I have 3 other GPS units Garmin e-trek and DeLorian, and I like the Megellan the best.
Summary: I Have been useing the magellan explorist 100 type hand held for years. its the best and easyest one to use. the best one on the market I believe. works great every time, with a nice features and a back light and nice screen. very simple to learn and get to use.
Summary: Very base line model, but it will do the job. If I had it do over again I would have spent a little more money and bought something else. it is small and compact which doesn't take up room in your bag. backlight works well day or night.
