Horrible technology backed by ZERO customer support

BiJae "bijae", Amazon
8 January 2014
  • Summary: I bought the Lowrance Endura Sierra GPS because I have had great experiences with their boating GPS units. This device is an epic failure on all counts. I purchased the device on 11/01/2013. I took it out on a hike two weeks later. I was hiking the coast of Oregon. The trail goes right along the cliffs of the coast. The Endura unit showed me 125 yards off the coast and 79 feet below sea level!

Not Happy With My Lowrance Endura

babj615, Amazon
26 September 2011
  • Summary: I just picked up an Endura Sierra yesterday at REI. Upon removing the unit for inspection, I was happy with the overall look and feel of the unit. I checked the firmware version (1.4) and found a recent update available online (1.5) that was full of huge improvements in the usability and function of the unit! I attempted to perform the update several times exactly as directed, and each time the unit gave an error "Firmware 1.5 already installed, please reboot unit".

  • Summary: Many of the reviews for this gps device seem to be about a flotation device instead. This probably needs to be fixed. Please delete this review when it's done.

Lowrance Endura Sierra

Steve Zamzow, Amazon
31 March 2011
  • Summary: At $450 MSRP this unit is a joke. I have had mine for about 5 months, I have had to send it back two times due to major problems. This unit requires downloads as soon as you buy it. If you purchase mapping software, such as Navoinics, you can view the maps but your waypoints do not show up on the map. I have been a Lowrance user for 20+ years, but this unit is a joke.

"Lowrance customer service is not good"

NCarolinaHiker, CNET
21 September 2010
  • Pros: Bright display, front buttons easy to use.
  • Cons: Very bad battery life, many trails missing or wrong in the map, many roads missing or wrong in the map, worst customer service ever experienced.

Very Disappointing

JimC, Amazon
24 August 2009
  • Summary: This is an incredibly disappointing GPS. From the pre-release hype by Lowrance I expected a GPS that would match or exceed the top of the line handhelds from Garmin and Delorme. What was delivered was the most basic GPS, no auto-routing even though it ships with Navteq street maps, you cannot perform a find of points of interest except from your current positon on the GPS.
