Horrible technology backed by ZERO customer support

BiJae "bijae", Amazon

  • Summary: I bought the Lowrance Endura Sierra GPS because I have had great experiences with their boating GPS units. This device is an epic failure on all counts. I purchased the device on 11/01/2013. I took it out on a hike two weeks later. I was hiking the coast of Oregon. The trail goes right along the cliffs of the coast. The Endura unit showed me 125 yards off the coast and 79 feet below sea level!

amazing detail

  • Summary: This is a great unit. I took the LAKEMASTER ProMap chip out of my boat GPS and it works great in this unit for ice fishing. The accuracy and detail is amazing. It takes a little longer to hook up with the satellites than some units, but other than that it outshines all other handhelds I looked at. Plan to use when I go cycling this summer.

  • Summary: I tought I was getting the top of the line and was only able to use it twice! The first issue with this unit is the need to upgrade the unit right after I bought it in order to use lakemaster software... I tried several time on the internet (as per Lorance directions). I found out that there is a mirco card that was at the store to do this process as I was trying to return this product! (system not out of box ready)!
  • Cons: Not Durable

Not Happy With My Lowrance Endura

babj615, Amazon
26 September 2011
  • Summary: I just picked up an Endura Sierra yesterday at REI. Upon removing the unit for inspection, I was happy with the overall look and feel of the unit. I checked the firmware version (1.4) and found a recent update available online (1.5) that was full of huge improvements in the usability and function of the unit! I attempted to perform the update several times exactly as directed, and each time the unit gave an error "Firmware 1.5 already installed, please reboot unit".

Laughter on Water, Amazon

  • Summary: Many of the reviews for this gps device seem to be about a flotation device instead. This probably needs to be fixed. Please delete this review when it's done.
