Summary: I got this on sale and I think Lowrance has made a substantial effort to support this product. Its easy to use. The only issue I had was downloading the maps from Lowrance's website, MapSelect. You outline the area you want to download and can either do satellite or topo. I struggled with the download, but Lowrance's support was helpful in guiding me through it. Great unit!
Summary: I bought the Lowrance Endura Sierra GPS because I have had great experiences with their boating GPS units. This device is an epic failure on all counts. I purchased the device on 11/01/2013. I took it out on a hike two weeks later. I was hiking the coast of Oregon. The trail goes right along the cliffs of the coast. The Endura unit showed me 125 yards off the coast and 79 feet below sea level!
Summary: did all what I expected and very accurate and user friendly, I understand to sync all the satellites are not easy job, but every 3 hours for 2 AA battery, gonna be heavy for 5 days hiking! tho at least it's AA not proprietary battery (Charge only!!) still recommend!
GREAT GPS GREAT VERSATILITY COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE OR KEEP YOU OUT OF TROUBLE

Summary: Very Durable, waterproof, reliable great looking product! Based on all the reviews i read on this product i bought it. Unfortunately it does not come with the software needed to use the product. The cheapest i could find the software for navionics was on ebay for 161.00 additional dollars on top of my purchase. To buy the software from Navionics its close to 300.00 not a very reasonable cost for spending as much as you do on this product.
Summary: I had seen the not to favorable reviews of the Endura, but combination of I have the Lowrance I Explorer and I'm a cheapskate led me to take a chance on buying one on ebay at a discounted price. I also bought the chip for the se us. All in all I'm very pleased. The chip works great. I've had a learning curve with the MapSelect downloads, and had to send the unit in. But, what I learned is this software is pretty new, so the instructions could be better.
Summary: I have tried two "new" units of the Lowarnce Endura Safari. I put "new" in quotes because both of the units I got appeared to have been repackaged and the packaging was different in both and one of them hS an "extra" item in Tools (something like Navionics, but it didn't seem to work). As many have sad, the road map that comes with this GPS is really bad. Only major highways. With both units, I purchased a fish map SD; neither of them would load.
Summary: Not sure what was up with the first reviewer, but he is mistaken. This is a great unit! I bought it to replace a Garmin Venture HC. Very accurate, easy to use as I have yet to even look at the included documentation or the full blown manual online. Went using it today and being able to go paperless is amazing... I love the features! This is for hiking, hunting, geocaching, waymarking, etc.
