Summary: A lot of complaints out there - between buggy system, poor maps, poor customer service, etc. I have a Endura Out&Back that I got from Operation Waypoint to use while in Afghanistan. So far it has proven extremely capable for its purposes. It handles the heat, the dust, the bouncing around, and every other thing possible: and keeps coming back for more. So for durability - I would rate this 10 stars! The base map options aren't topographic, but that doesn't bother me.
Summary: I had a really bad review here which I will edit. My endura was freezing but it was because there was an update. I have since updated and have no issues so far. I also was able to get great customer service to help me through the process. Not five stars yet because I didn't like how it froze in the first place, but I may adjust to five stars if it gives me a few more years of use.
Summary: I paid $137 for this device and can say for this price nothing on the market can compare, even at $200 this thing can hold its own against other similarly priced units. There are a few problems: biggest being projecting waypoints is non existent, and when doing multicaches the waypoint will stop tracking when you get within 30ft (this is waypoints only, a geocache file will not stop tracking).
Summary: I have to believe that many of the poor reviews for this product are from before the current firmware update. Since the newest update has come out this GPS has moved up from being a buggy and frustrating unit to being one of the better GPS units available. The Out&Back is rugged and well built, allows the use of MicroSD cards to store caches, routes, maps, etc, is very accurate, and has a ton of features. The paperless caching is an especially great feature.
Summary: Not sure what was up with the first reviewer, but he is mistaken. This is a great unit! I bought it to replace a Garmin Venture HC for Geocaching and Waymarking ( see [...] ). Very accurate, easy to use as I have yet to even look at the included documentation or the full blown manual online. Went Geocaching today and being able to go paperless is amazing... I love the touchscreen! This is NOT for street navigation so look elsewhere if that's what you need.
