Defective New Item

Colin W. Rumsey, Amazon
27 August 2013
  • Summary: This Handheld GPS does not load GPX files or rather auxillary map files. For instance it will not load and display files from Fishing Hotspots E110 which are Michigan fishing maps. I have an old iFINDER H2O Color model and it displays these files without any problems. I notifies the seller and received no response back. I refund or replacement should be performed on this transaction, however, I can not get any satisfaction.

Sent unit back 3 times still have same problems

JerryH, Amazon
23 October 2012
  • Summary: This model is full of bugs. When geocaching it will give you false information, then once you walk past the cache 60 feet then it changes direction and points back it's S L O W. It's a joke loading pocket quaries too. The pointer lags and freezes, just check other reviews (Lowrance refuses to fix).

Lowrance Endura Out&Back

FJS, Amazon
2 March 2012
  • Summary: Once again I was let down by the Lowrance products. Being on a point on a Resort, this wonderful product showed me to be in the lake. While hiking, it showed no trails what so ever and put me between two lakes that were 15 miles apart. I was hiking on state trails. Don't waste your money on the lakemasters chip for this product, because it doesn't work! It states that is compatible with the Endura product on the box.

Not Happy With My Endura

babj615, Amazon
26 September 2011
  • Summary: I just picked up an Endura yesterday at REI. Upon removing the unit for inspection, I was happy with the overall look and feel of the unit. I checked the firmware version (1.4) and found a recent update available online (1.5) that was full of huge improvements in the usability and function of the unit! I attempted to perform the update several times exactly as directed, and each time the unit gave an error "Firmware 1.5 already installed, please reboot unit".

Can't See the Screen

outdoors person, Amazon
29 January 2010
  • Summary: I just got my Out&Back. It is completely useless, as you can not see the screen outdoors in either the sun or shade. I have fresh batteries and backlight is turned all the way up. Instead of features such as touch-screen they shoud have made the screen brighter or made it black and white. I have three other GPS's and I can't immagine one this bad.

Shiny but, rotten on the inside

WNYperson, Amazon
20 January 2010
  • Summary: I pre ordered the Out&Back unit and have attempted to use it since June[ish] of 09 mainly for geocaching and hunting. *Edit/update 12/9/13: The last firmware update I received for the Out&Back did seem to improve direction finding marginally. Not enough though! I don't think Lowrance makes bad products, their marine products are very familiar to me and have always delivered which is why I made the mistake of pre-ordering the Out&Back.

Not a good option, missing mappping components

D. Newton "Electronics Guru", Amazon
19 November 2009
  • Summary: I just had to chime in here with my two cents. Simply stated, there are better handheld GPS options. The entire Lowrance handheld GPS line shipped without a lot of the mapping detail that is advertised in the item description. MapSelect also has no additional maps ($5 for each small area) available that I have been able to find. There arre regional SD card available ($99 for each region), but that's pretty much it.

Lowrance Endura Out and Back

Gary Shilling, Amazon
7 August 2009
  • Summary: Just received the unit and want to use it for hiking in the back country using topo maps. Instructions are absolutely minimal, telling how functions work, but not how to apply the unit. Tech support couldn't advise me how to download Nat.Geo.Topo maps to the unit. Additionally, they couldn't advise me of other web sites which I could use to get topo maps. The product appears to lack full integration from an application perspective with any computer mapping software.
