Summary: I'm a geologist and have used this receiver with field PDA computers and Bluetooth connections - running ArcPad. It's pretty demanding stuff on the PDA at least. Using an HP iPAQ the last few years, I've routiunely had numerous "disconnections" of the PDA from the GPS each day. It was a real pain. But I've changed to a substantially more powerful Juniper Systems Archer field PDA this year, and I'm currently having great success with the Globalsat GPS.
Summary: The GlobalSat BT-338 receiver worked fine but failed about one year after I purchased it. The supporting documentation was clearly written by someone who did not speak native English, and thus was difficult to understand. The unit should have lasted longer. It could not be repaired and I had to replace it.
Conclusion: The future of GPS is here. Well, nearly. Incredibly short times to fix, extremely long run times, strong fixes under the most difficult conditions. SiRF have delivered a very capable chipset, and I am sure we will see this one in the majority of new GPS receivers, both standalone and integrated. The combination of SiRFstart III GPS and mobile phone will accelerate the implementation of Location Based Services, especially when AGPS starts to take off.
Summary: I highly recommend this product. The battery life Last over 16 hors on a full battery. it starts assoon as you oress the on button. This product works great with my ipaq Hx4705 and tomtom navigator 5 software.
Summary: Although it took me a while to get the bluetooth settings correct with my tomtom navigator software, I highly recommend this product. The battery life has shown to be 16+ hours. The connection time is under a minute on cold start. The length of time to connect initially was due to my inexperience with bluetooth. This product works great with my ipaq 4150 and tomtom navigator 5 software.
Summary: I bought the Globalsat BT-338 GPS Receiver about a month ago,i am impressed with its ability to track regularly 8 satellites at a time with a strong signal, only dislike is that sometimes it takes a few minutes to lock in to the satellites on start up, a small price to pay for such a great receiver, i would recomend this unit
