Built well, but functionally desinged poorly

george sagel, Amazon
19 August 2013
  • Summary: In daylight (which is most of the time on the motorcycle) the screen is not visible because of the glare. The audio does not always give prior warning for directions.

  • Summary: If your dash is sloped (does not have a significant level area) this mount is less useful. It works, but would work best on a different configuration of the dash than mine.

Too loose for slim sat-navs. It will drop out!

Graham Woolley, Amazon
29 June 2014
  • Summary: This slip case is far too loose for slim sat navs such as the 3598 I had just bought. The sat-nav slips out very easily and after a couple of near disasters I knew that this was an accident waiting to happen, so I returned it. Apart from this, quality and form is exactly what I was looking for, but the priority for a case is to protect, and this case actually increases the chance of damage.

Hmmmm.

L. Jennings "leej3544", Amazon
2 February 2014
  • Summary: Firstly take into account I purchased this SatNav for use with my motorcycle as I was led to believe this was designed primarily for motorcycles. As a user of Garmin satnavs for a good few years now, and I swear by them, I have to say this is without doubt a big dissapointment. Starters for 10 it's like twice the price of a mid or even higher end Garmin. Garmin states this pricey piece of tech was designed by bikers for bikers.

Good sat nav. Rubbish software

dr, Amazon
30 May 2013
  • Summary: The sat nav is fine. It should be for the price. It fits BMW mounts and is cheaper than the BMW branded unit that doesn't have the car kit. This is good. The software though is just dreadful. Clunky and difficult to use.

Nice device, TERRIBLE software.

R. STILES, Amazon
29 March 2013
  • Summary: If like me you plan to create some nice routes to follow on your motorbike, forget it. The Basecamp software that you have to use to plot the routes is awful. It crashes all the time, and randomly decides I live in the US. If by some miracle it does manage to find the destination I'd like to add to the route, I can't then drag the route around without it making an awful mess of it all.

poor value for money

gareth, Amazon
2 July 2012
  • Summary: Garmin do not supply a protective pouch with their sat navs so you have to buy one. The pouch arrived today and is made of a padded cloth which does not look to be very good value for the total cost of buying it. It does not look as though it will take long to wear out.

Garmin cable

P. L. Noel, Amazon
19 January 2012
  • Summary: The original cable supplied with the GPS failed after 2 years casual use. The connector failed to engage properly into the mount adaptor. The bad connection caused the unit to fail to charge and sometimes to reset. Both these effects very unhelpful when using a GPS. Also the cable is very expensive.
