Summary: For the price, Garmin should be ashamed of this product. The Zumo 660 is not bad, I'd give it 4 stars, but the Basecamp software used with it has a tremendous amount to be desired. The issue is what choices do you have. Basecamp is out dated, not user friendly and downright frustrating and I'm a regular computer user. Read a complete review here. http://goo.gl/qcvMvN Update I am changing my 660 unit rating to 2 stars.
Summary: i have used a gps dashboard mount before. it was the one with a bean-bag type foundation and it was much better than this product. the garmin portable friction mount does not stay in place. so i am returning it.
Summary: Firstly take into account I purchased this SatNav for use with my motorcycle as I was led to believe this was designed primarily for motorcycles. As a user of Garmin satnavs for a good few years now, and I swear by them, I have to say this is without doubt a big dissapointment. Starters for 10 it's like twice the price of a mid or even higher end Garmin. Garmin states this pricey piece of tech was designed by bikers for bikers.
Summary: The sat nav is fine. It should be for the price. It fits BMW mounts and is cheaper than the BMW branded unit that doesn't have the car kit. This is good. The software though is just dreadful. Clunky and difficult to use.
Summary: If like me you plan to create some nice routes to follow on your motorbike, forget it. The Basecamp software that you have to use to plot the routes is awful. It crashes all the time, and randomly decides I live in the US. If by some miracle it does manage to find the destination I'd like to add to the route, I can't then drag the route around without it making an awful mess of it all.
Summary: Garmin do not supply a protective pouch with their sat navs so you have to buy one. The pouch arrived today and is made of a padded cloth which does not look to be very good value for the total cost of buying it. It does not look as though it will take long to wear out.
Summary: The original cable supplied with the GPS failed after 2 years casual use. The connector failed to engage properly into the mount adaptor. The bad connection caused the unit to fail to charge and sometimes to reset. Both these effects very unhelpful when using a GPS. Also the cable is very expensive.
